“If $2 matters, you can sleep through anything and you like the smell of cigarette smoke then the price is quite cheap.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

I got a room here when the hostel I was booked into with my travelling companion didn't have a second spare room. All the rooms face into a balconied internal courtyard which is quite nice but not nearly as nice as the real outdoor courtyard at Hostel de la Rosario which is just across the road, only $2 more and better in every respect. The first issue I had is that they permit smoking in the internal courtyard and on the balconies which in an enclosed space which means it gets into the rooms. Great for smokers I suppose but I cant stand the smell.

The staff seem friendly enough if somewhat disinterested but again that's fine. The real issue was trying to sleep and i'm not a light sleeper. The bed was comfortable but almost comically squeaky. Disconcertingly so if you're alone, embarrassing loud if if you have company. Worse still is the walls dividing rooms are paper thin. I was woken continually from early in the morning by, I'm not sure what but it, sounded like workmen gutting the rooms around mine. Finally I gave up on trying to sleep when woken again by 2 architects knocking on my door continually but hesitantly for half an hour before 10 o'clock. Apparently their "need" to measure the room was important than my privacy and sleep. The management must have let them in despite it being well before check out time.

I'm shattered, envious of my companion who had a great time and slept well at Hostel de la Rosario and will lose half a day in this fantastic city catching up on lost sleep.

If $2 matters, you can sleep through anything and you like the smell of cigarette smoke then the price is quite cheap. But I wouldn't stay here again.

Room Tip: Go across the road to Hostel de la Rosario.

We were pleasantly surprised by this cozy little place. We stayed in room 4 which is facing the street. It was huge, had a tv and was fairly clean. We had a shared bathroom which was okay. We were planning on staying for 3 days and ended up staying a week! The staff are friendly and gave us all the soap and shampoo we needed. The kitchen was fully functional with a working blender, stove, fridge and enough cooking utensils to host a dinner party of 10. They do laundry which is basically free, $1 a kg. There is one tv with free internet and it is fairly fast. 30 min time limit not enforced. They dont speak much English but that{s ok bc we spoke a little. They offered to clean our room which was a nice touch. Not much noise from the street, perhaps a little music from cars passing by on Fri and Sat nights but that{s it. Also they have a 10pm night curfew which is perfect!! There is 24hr reception and a locked gate for added security. Plus, the location is great, walking distance to the city centre, Millenium mall, park etc.. Highly recommend to those on a budget. Enjoy!

Room Tip: We liked our room near the street so we could open the windows. The other rooms in the centre only h...

We had an average stay here. The staff was alright but something about them rubbed us the wrong way---they didn't seem very competent. We were able to bargain down the price of a room, though, because the initial price was a rip-off. I wouldn't stay here again. We had to choose between breakfast or kitchen use, and there weren't enough cooking materials in the kitchen. We just didn't feel very comfortable there. Our room had a weird smell and didn't have any windows to the outside--only to inside the hostel.

On the plus side, it's in a good location and the rooms are large.

we had a room for two person with private bathroom for 10 US Dollar pp the night. the room was spacious and so was the bathroom. Unfortunately, there was a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom which we noticed after a night of storm and rain, didn't affect the bedroom. the beds were a little soft but big. television in the room. They have a kitchen which is okay and the possibility to do laundry (1$ per load). It is close to the city center (about 5 minutes by foot).

We had a double room with shared bathroom and were surprised by the big room. I think we could even dance in it if we wanted to. The room was on the first floor facing the street, but the street noise was not to loud as its also a one way street. The other rooms to the back looked a bit dark. The bed was very comfortable. The shared bathroom was kept very clean. For me personally the showers could be a bit warmer. Downstairs there is a computer that everyone can use as well as a kitchen. They also offer laundry for just 50 Cents. Amazing. The staff was really friendly. The locations is also very central, everything within walking distance. We would recommend staying here.

This hostel is set in a good location a short taxi ride from the bus terminal. My husband and I payed 14us for a double with a shared bathroom (a double with private room was 20us).
The rooms were quite large and very clean with TV. We had a room on the 1st floor which had a street facing view. This room was nice and bright. There were double rooms on the top floor but they were dark as they only had wondows that opened onto the interior patio.
The shared bathroom was extremely clean.

They also had use of a kitchen but the utilities were old and dirty with no cleaning products around.
The hostal felt very safe as it was locked at all times and had to ring a bell to get in and out.
