I stayed two nights here earlier this month with two friends for a quick weekend trip into Quito. We chose the hotel for its location and proximity to most of the Old Town's attractions and its reasonable price. We booked a triple, which meant that our room had a lofted area with the third bed. Overall, the room itself was rather unique; a spiral staircase connected the lofted portion with the main floor and the room had a two story ceiling facing the hotel's courtyard. We liked it, as the room itself was spacious and clean. The bathroom was okay- it was certainly the weakest aspect of the room. Hot water was available, though you had to play with the hot and cold switches to get the water to a reasonable temperature. The hotel itself is fairly secure; there is a locked gate between the hotel and the courtyard that adds to peace of mind.
The breakfast was alright- scrambled eggs and bread, with coffee and juice for drinks. Fine for a night or two, though I could see how people staying longer may get tired of the combination. The view from the hotel terrace was pretty good, and the rooms higher up in the hotel, though harder to reach because of the stairs, will tend to be quieter.
Overall, we liked it and would stay here again if we were in Historic Quito- it's walking distance to the attractions you would want to see in Old Town and it's funky design makes it a non-traditional, one-of-a-kind place to stay.
try not to get a room that faces the street; if noise is a main concern, try to get a room on a high...
