“Great property, close to Grand Plaza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2011

Really liked this property and very happy that we switched from the Grand Plaza Hotel to this property. We were upgraded to suite without asking and the service was excellent. Breakfast buffet was abundant with nice variety and quality. Restaurant food and bar service was exceptional in a nice setting. I would highly recommend this property.

Well-managed, very clean, and very helpful staff. But best of all was the interior courtyard where you could sit in the sunshine filtered by the glass roof amidst the greenery and piped-in sounds of birds chirping in the background.

Be sure that you confirm the price of the taxi ride from the Quito airport before you enter the taxi, as we were charged twice what the fare should have been.

Room Tip: No elevator, so if climbing stairs is a problem, ask for a room on the lowest floor.

Great looking place, very professional and friendly staff. We asked for a restaurant recommendation and walked several blocks toward it when the Doorman caught up to us and said he found out they were closed that night. He then walked us to another restaurant. Our plane was long delayed and the hotel let us check out that evening instead of the usual time at no extra charge.

This hotel is a great place to stay for location, food, decor and staff. Rather than staying in the new part of Quito, we requested a hotel in the historical area. The conversion from old mansion to small boutique hotel was very successful. Due to the nature of our trip, we stayed there 5 nights spread out over 3 weeks, as we transitioned from 1 part of our trip to another. Each time, the different rooms were nicely appointed, clean and quiet. The food was good quality, nicely prepared and served in a gorgeous enclosed courtyard. And the gift shop is a branch of the high-end artisan craft shop, Olga Fisch. I would definitely stay there any time you travel to Quito.

This hotel has a lot of history and is very charming. The location could not be better, you can walk to all the sites you want to see in the historic center. The double windows facing the busy street result in great sound-proofing, you never know how noisy is outside. The staff was helpful. There is a well stocked supermarket next door where you can buy anything you need (including alcohol to take to your room, and any liquids you could not fit on your carry-on bag). I stayed in one of their double-level suites. I paid about $140/night over a weekend (all included) using the search engine on this website.

Room Tip: The double-level suites are a bit more expensive than the regular rooms, however, worth it.

The location is very good, and so is the rest of the hotel. And the people working there.
