“Great view, great amenities, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

To start, if you're driving, they do not offer valet, but the parking garage is underneath, is free for guests, and is accessible on Avenida 18 de Septiembre. All the roads around there are 1 way, so you have to drive a block past the hotel on Avenida Patria (going west), make a right onto 9 de Octubre, then a right on 18 de Septiembre. It's tricky, there's ALWAYS traffic. Good luck!

I stay at Hilton properties during travels probably about 15 times/year or so. This is one of the best "bang for my bucks" I've ever experienced at a Hilton. First of all, I got 2 free drinks upon arrival. Granted, it's a set menu of 4 drinks, but who cares. It's free.

Internet was free, which is something I haven't always found in Hiltons, particularly in the United States where Hilton tries to snatch as much money from you as possible.

And the view from my side was breathtaking (I've attached it). If you go, ask for a Park View room. Absolutely worth it.

Finally, the location of the Hilton is right smack in the middle of town. If you walk to the northeast, up Avenida Amazonas, you find yourself in the heart of the Mariscal area which is loaded with bars, hostels, restaurants, cafes, and fellow travelers. Great place to meet some other people.

If you walk across the park, down the PanAm Hwy, toward the Basillica, you'll rapidly find yourself in Old Town, which is one of the best things about Quito.

I didn't try the food because I wanted to see what small mom & pop shops had to offer, but I did see the spread and it certainly looked good.

As for everything else, the place was standard Hilton. High quality, comfortable, clean. Oh, and it was really cheap for a Hilton. About $100 USD/night.

Room Tip: Rooms that face the park and are on high floors have STUNNING views of sunset.

Booked this hotel for additional nights before out tour began (using this hotel as well). We used the advanced purchase deal offered and stayed in the Club Level rooms that included breakfast, drinks and snacks as well as use of their computers and free internet in the room. Nice, comfortable rooms with great views of the city. Quiet. Taxi to/from hotel to Old Town is US$5 or less. Good restaurants available. The lady in the Club Level Lounge was EXTREMELY nice and went out of her way to assist us with questions, etc. Be aware that the Club Level Lounge has some weird hours on weekends/holidays and liquor is not sold on Sundays - so the free beer/wine is not available on Sundays. Clean rooms, comfy beds/pillows and very nice/accommodating staff.

Room Tip: Book the Club Level - YOU'RE worth it!

I called for 4 hours this morning to a guest staying in the hotel to wish them a Merry Christmas. When a hotel operator finally answered and I asked for the guest, the operator sat the phone down and began a conversation with another employee. I had to yell into the phone to get his attention and remind him that he had not connected me to the room!

This is a Hilton??? I guess Paris is now running the joint!

Room Tip: Choose a good room by not going to this hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for a business trip and loved it. They gave me a free upgrade to an executive suite so that probably sways my review but it was spectacular. The exercise facility was excellent with the obligatory treadmills and ellipticals but they also had an array of free weights as well. The food was very good and I had a taste of mandarin orange ice cream that I would rate as one of the best ice creams I have ever had. It is closely located to one of the local markets for artesanias and right across from a large park.

Usually I handicap my ratings outside of developed countries, but this place is solid no matter how you look at it. I was in-and-out of this place three times while I was visiting various areas of Ecuador. It was very much a home away from home, where I could relax and not worry about security, food, service, amenities, etc... The staff was great and the hotel delivered on everything i normally expect from a US/EU hotel.

Room Tip: When I was there in Oct 2012, I think they just converted some smoking rooms to non-smoking. You ma...

I was at this hotel last week for business, and would doubt to go back again. I had stayed there a couple of years ago and it had been a good experience (even though the building and rooms are very outdated and could use renovation), but not so much this week.
Second night in (after meetings from 8 am - 10 pm) I got to my room and found it hadn't been cleaned all day. Had to call front desk and wait more than 30 minutes for someone to come and take care of the room (even dishes from past night room service were still on the floor outside the room... ewww).
Water in the shower is never hot (at least between 6 am and 9 am), so plan to take an almost-cold shower every day if you need to get anywhere before noon.
Checkout was really slow, more than 30 minutes even though I was only charging room itself to my credit card.
People are nice and helpful, but wouldn't stay at the hotel if I had other chance (have been at other hotels in Quito, which are much better in price-value relation).

Room Tip: Stayed on 3rd floor on a room looking at the park: really noisy if there is traffic (ok after midni...

We stayed two nights over a weekend. The staff was wonderful and helpful (especially as non-Spanish-speaking Americans). The pool is heated to perfection and was great on a chilly October evening. Room service was inexpensive and the food quality was superb. We had the concierge-level breakfast both mornings and food selection and quality was great. Same for the evening cocktail and appetizer hours. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Surroundings of the hotel were safe and we spent a few hours wandering and shopping at the outdoor market 2 blocks away.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the mountains, cathedral, and cross on the hill. Much better than the other c...
