“Not my Style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

Was nice, initially, to arrive at this hotel after a LONG 80 minute trip from the new Quito airport. However, I was soon uncomfortable with the surroundings, other guests and staff. It was all a little too upscale for me. Some staff were borderline condescending or snobby and one actually sighed audibly when I asked for assistance in the Business Center. The bellboy was almost incompetent when he tried to demonstrate the remote for the curtains and a few other room features – and we had a difficult time getting him to leave. However, the concierge went out of his way to confirm a day tour I had scheduled from home, but was unable to contact upon arrival.
Our room had been upgraded to a suite, which was clean, very comfortable and with tons of amenities, including roses left on the pillows. The view out the window was of a spectacular mountain side, but even on the 9th floor, traffic noise was apparent.
The hotel is across the street from a couple of nice restaurants, but try the Ecuadorian/Mediterranean restaurant in the hotel. I had the BEST soup I have ever had, there – the Brie and Caramelized Onion soup. Don’t miss the “complementary” breakfast buffet. It is the most extensive and delicious collection of breakfast food I have seen at a hotel.
The hotel also has a little mall of shops, with an ATM and reasonably priced café (with delicious French-style breads) on the ground floor. These close early – at 7PM, I believe. If you want to shop for a meal or other items, a LARGE, clean, busy grocery store is only a block down the street.
All the western style hotels are a great distance from the new airport these days, with only one route there. If there is a traffic accident or heavy rain, it can take 90 minutes to cover the distance. In July 2014 a northern route is scheduled to open and the airport transfer time should be improved.

Staff were very helpful. Excellent location. Great rooms well insulated from noise. However, the Price of a bottle of Evian at the mini bar and to launder a pair of pants are much too high compared to the local economy.

The hotel looks tired and in need of a good remodeling. We arrived late in the evening and were met with fresh orange juice and a hot towel, which was nice after a long day traveling. The rooms are dated and average, at most. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant is really great with a large variety of food. The bellman were a bit overbearing for me, so much so you felt uncomfortable and rushed.

We stayed at this hotel 3 times for a total of 6 days, interspersed with visits to other parts of Ecuador over the past 2 weeks. We found the accommodations clean and comfortable with great facilities including spa, exercise rooms and a pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful - we had a problem with our iPad and their IT people helped us with it, including contacting the closest Mac store for us to visit for more advice.
We had no problem with the air conditioning other than the fact that it was either on full fan or off. When we turned it off, we were a little too warm because the only "sheet/blanket" available was a very warm comforter.
The buffet breakfasts were excellent, as was the Peruvian restaurant. We were not as pleased with the food or service in the Japanese restaurant.
There were not a lot of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, but a $2.00 cab ride took us to a restaurant nearby. Overall, a very good hotel.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet location for our room, so we were located at the back of the hotel, away from t...

This is a very pleasant "business style" hotel. It is excellent in every way but could be in any big city. The location is a bit inconvenient for restaurants and shops. But there are a few here and there within walking distance. If you go clubbing, there are lots of night spots around the hotel. The service at the hotel is excellent. The concierge was top notch as well as all of the main desk staff, bellmen, etc.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor to get a good view of the mountains

I have stayed here on three different occasions. The hotel is nice, good location but their heat/cooling system is never working. This happened each stay, different rooms.
Even if you turn off the heat, its still warm, the A?C does not seem to cool either. And warm to a point were I was unable to sleep, when I told the front desk they shrug and say nothing is wrong.
This is the only reason I will not rate it high nor return.

Perfect business hotel, well managed, with every kind of service.
Big clean rooms with king size beds and a good lighting.
The only compliant is about the wi fi internet connection. With a mobile phone or an Ipad you've to put the password every time you open the device! Quite boring when you're working in your room.
