“Excellent - Like usual!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2010

Excellent staff, very clean hotel. The lobby is mostly marble and clean enough to eat from... The staff is ALWAYS very professional and a pleasure to be around. Plenty of the staff speak English, but I enjoy practicing my (rough) Spanish with the doormen. They are all fun, professional and patient. The spa is fantastic (ask for Patrica), and the pool is out of this world. The climate is relatively cool, but the pool is heated and very comfortable. If you like sushi, you'll be surprised to find out how good the chef is in the hotel bar! I would be neglecting my duties not to mention Fabian, who works the main entrance as well as the parking garage. He speaks English very well and can be a fantastic guide for the nightlife in Quito. He knows many of the great bars that Americans like as well as the great hole-in-the-wall restaurants. One of the friendliest staff you'll find!!!

This is one of the better Marriott hotels I've stayed in worldwide. For travelling to Quito it's well worth paying the extra and getting a very luxurious hotel. Felt very safe in this general area. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable.

We stayed at this hotel 3 nights prior and one night after our visit to the Galapagos Islands.
The hotel has a beautiful lobby and very spacious common areas. The rooms were comfortable and clean. It looks like a typical Marriott room.
We had breakfast included for convenience and there was a lovely breakfast buffet.
We also ate dinner one night at their Hacienda Restaurant (appetizers and wine).
The staff was always helpful, courteous and friendly to us and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

This was the third of three hotels in which we (married couple with 9 year old son) stayed during our recent trip to Quito before and after a Galapagos cruise. I really wish it had been the only one! It's very conveniently located to the airport; we always drove by it en route to our other hotels. I have to admit, we had a bias against staying in an American chain hotel in a foreign city; we thought we would lose the some of the "local" flavor. But to the contrary, this hotel was so great that it put us in a great frame of mind for enjoying Quito, and it felt like a different, and much more pleasant, city once we moved here. For a relatively modest $50, we upgraded to a room on the club floor, which had a great executive club with free snacks and drinks. The pool at this hotel is a thing of beauty, and our son didn't want to leave it. There are saunas and steam rooms in the locker rooms. The hotel is airy and modern, and totally clean. My only complaint is that their private taxis are almost (if not more than) double the cost of regular taxis. Not a huge problem given that taxis in Quito are generally very cheap, but just kind of annoying to feel like you're getting ripped off. But that's a minor quibble: checking into the JW Marriott in Quito felt like arriving in the promised land - an oasis of serenity in a sprawling third world city.

We stayed here for 2 nights with 4 teenagers. The hotel lobby and rooms are very nicely appointed. The best things about the hotel is the heated pool and jacuzzi (and cold pool too), the need for a room key to use the elevators, and the helpful staff. The worst things are the charge to use the internet, and most of all the food in the hotel restaurant was vile. We only ate breakfast there - it was extremely expensive (in comparison eating in Quito is quite inexpensive) and each item was cold and tasteless.

We arrived in Quito very late at night to find that the hotel that our travel agent had booked for us was awful. It was dirty, smelly, unsafe and we refused to stay there. Having noticed a Marriott on the way from the airport, we transferred there by taxi and checked into two clean, comfortable rooms and heaved a sigh of relief! The staff were helpful and extremely pleasant despite the fact that it was after 1:00 am. The restaurants were very good and Carla, in the Executive Lounge was wonderful. Would recommennd the extra expense for the upgrade as it includes breakfast, snacks and drinks throughout the day, as well as free internet. A great place to stay on the way to and from the
Galapagos, as we did, or just a good place to stay in Quito.

Rooms are like any marriott out there, they look just the same. The location is great to walk around near Quitos best malls. Beds are really comfortable and you can sleep all day long. Check out the Swimming pool and the sushi bar, the best out there.
