Don't miss this gem of a museum located in a restored 17th-century manor about a block from the Plaza de San Francisco (it's on your left as you face the church--Cuenca Street). It houses some of the best Pre-Colombian art you'll see anywhere. Clearly, money and expertise went into its design. There's an audio tour, captioned exhibits (in Spanish and English) — even sound effects that evoke the rain forest and ancient civilizations. You'll leave with a greater appreciation of the ancients' art and worldview. Be sure to stop in the well-curate gift shop--especially if you're on your way to Galapagos and won't have time to explore the country. website alabado.org
