“Beautiful & Sophisticated Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

Don't miss this gem of a museum located in a restored 17th-century manor about a block from the Plaza de San Francisco (it's on your left as you face the church--Cuenca Street). It houses some of the best Pre-Colombian art you'll see anywhere. Clearly, money and expertise went into its design. There's an audio tour, captioned exhibits (in Spanish and English) — even sound effects that evoke the rain forest and ancient civilizations. You'll leave with a greater appreciation of the ancients' art and worldview. Be sure to stop in the well-curate gift shop--especially if you're on your way to Galapagos and won't have time to explore the country. website alabado.org

“Most beautiful Museum in Quito”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

Wonderful, not to be missed, this private museum truly showcases a terrific collection of pre-Columbian art works. There are English explanations throughout. The restoration of the villa is beautiful, I really was amazed by the living wall in one gallery. And, the gift shop is one of the best in Quito, and you don't need to pay to go shopping there.

“Wonderful small museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

Casa del Albado museum is very well worth a visit. It is conveniently situated in central Quito, it is of a manageable size, and the exhibits are exceptionally well presented. The lighting is excellent.
Even for visitors with a low boredom threshold for museums, the carvings etc. on display here were fascinating and beautiful. I cannot recommend it strongly enough.

nice collection but not the best, but very well presented, in originals and different ways, albeit sometimes with rather bad lightning
