“Good Lebanese food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

This is an attractive small restaurant with very good food. Depending on your point of view, the owner is attentive and hospitable or something akin to a car salesman. Resist the owner's attempts to get you to order everything on the menu. Order what you think you can eat. The dishes don't take long to prepare so you can always order more.

“One of the best in Quito”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

We have been there only once so far but that taste makes us eager to come back. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the service is great. The food is excellent and very true to its Lebanese roots. Highly recommend.

“Wonderful Lebanese restaurant in Quito”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

I am from Quito but live in the US. Some local friends recommended us this place last December and to my surprise I found this cozy restaurant is a one little gem in the center of the city. The food is excellent, nicely presented in small plates to share (as suggested by the owner), the belly dancing show is impressive and the service is great, not only from the young waiters but specially of the owner who visited every table suggesting the different house specialties (hommus, falafel, eggplants stew and baklawa ice cream are simply delicious!). Give a try to the mint lemonade. It was so tasty and refreshing! Mr. Hayek, the owner, is very friendly and made all of us feel as special guests. I noticed that not only local people were at the restaurant but also large groups of tourists who looked really pleased at this place. I highly recommend Baalbek to everyone visiting my city.

“Lebanese Food in Quito?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

What a pleasant surprise to find 1) such a beautiful restaurant with 2) an absolutely and accommodating owner 3) the speediest, most pleasant service EVER 4) Lebanese food in Ecuador!
We loved it all - the ambiance, the beautifully presented food, the delightful staff. A real treat, if pricey.

“Go for the decor & the service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

Cuisine: Lebanese.
Location: In La Mariscal neighborhood, you will certainly feel the real Lebanese origins of the restaurant as you walk in. Parking available on-site.
Pros: Go on a Thursday, they have Arabic belly dancers performing that night. The service was very good; the owner came to our table and tried to persuade us to order pretty much one of everything on the menu. The food was good, we had the basics –baba ghanoush, hummus, tabbouleh, quippe, falafel, tahini. An entrée of lamb wrapped in grape leaves was a pleasant surprise. A perfect finale was having a dessert trio of baklawa, mamul and burma.
Cons: It is expensive considering the basic ingredients of the food and the portions. I thought the owner’s attitude was a bit intrusive, but my guests though it was charming.
Will come back.
