We stumbled on this wonderful restaurant since it was on the street that ran directly in front of Fuente de Piedra II Hotel where we were staying.
We had eaten at several touristy restaurants around Plaza Foch at the beginning of our stay and weren't very happy, so we tried out Le Arcate on a whim.
They make their own pastas and have a wood-burning pizza oven just as you walk in the front door. Service seems fancy for the extremely reasonable prices - so we were nervous... especially arriving a bit grungy after an all day tour of volcanos - but staff was gracious and we felt right at home. Plus, we consistently saved money eating here. Order a salad, bottle of house wine and a fantastic pizza and you'll have a great meal for two for less than $30. Pizza was so good we went back every night - but next trip I already have the pastas selected to order... Never thought that I'd find my favorite Italian restaurant in Quito - but travel is all about discovering new and wonderful things... so go and have a great time!
