“Lovely view with a few interesting things on the menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2013

Go for the view alone. The canelazo is not bad also. Greek meatballs (albondigas) is the best thing on the menu and comes with a nice mustard sauce. Don't expect all the Greek specialities to be authentic - they're not. Prices are not unusual for a Quito restaurant with a view.

“Gorgeous views!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013 via mobile

Incredible views of the city below! At night you won't be disappointed! The food is very good and portions perfect. A great atmosphere but the only light you have is by small candle light at the tables. Very difficult to read the menu or see whose sitting next or across from you. Good thing we carry flashlights. Is phone or small carry lights. Very necessary!

“Overrated View and Poor Food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Ordered potato soup and souvlaki. The soup was bland, the souvlaki had way too many peppers, and the fries were a disaster like they came from a high school cafeteria. The view isn;t that great. I stayed in old town and the taxi ride to this place isn't worth it - go to Vista Hermosa - the one on Mejia in old town for a much better view and food!

“Romantic and great view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

The best thing about this place is the view. You can see the historic center of Quito from a terrace they have, with the tables outside. The view is terrific. The food is good but it's a little overshadowed by the view. The sandwiches are pretty average, but the traditional hot drinks are amazing and the empanadas too. I strongly recommend going to Café Mosaico! To me, the ideal plan for this place is simply ordering a cheese plate and empanadas de viento to share, and definitely have some vino hervido or canelazos (traditional Ecuadorian hot drinks) and enjoy the view.

“View better than the food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

I've been to Café Mosaico a few times and have left unimpressed by the food. Don't get me wrong--- it's not bad at all, it's just a little expensive for what some of the items are. Last time I went I got the gyro and it was pretty good, but mostly I think what you pay for is the view. Lots of times in Quito, however, it gets quite foggy at nighttime and even the view vanishes. For a restaurant with a view in Quito, I like Vista Hermosa, because you can always see around you in the old town. That being said, it is rather expensive as well, but again, you pay for the view!
