We enjoyed an excellent dinner here: Arrollado a la Chilena de fábrica de cecinas (“from the sausage factory,” so don’t ask) served on a delectable puree of potatoes with orange and mint and a dessert of black olive mousse and tomato-thyme ice cream with a praline cookie – per my notes, delicious!
In addition, Chef Gonzalo Lara is an amusing vision in red trousers, white chef’s jacket and black homburg as he circulates among deliberating diners while lecturing on his menu de jour.
We found the service quite good here and wonder if a few previous reviewers may have found it less so because they failed to summon their server when needed. In Chile, as elsewhere in Latin America, restaurant servers usually leave diners alone until called upon. Also, contrary to the experience of some, we noted a number of local patrons and later clicked the “Spanish first” button on this page to discover excellent ratings by many locals as well as other Spanish speakers. End of homily.
