The place is different in every aspect. Lots of details in decor, at times overwhelming. We were quite glad to have a clean, civilized retreat in the hills overlooking Valparaiso though the rooms are extremely small and congested with furniture/ decor. This is not a 'full-service' Hotel, rather run like a B&B. However, Jorge and his team make it worth the extra $'s.

This hotel was converted from a number of residences. The hotel is completely unique because it is a maze of buildings joined together. The rooms are all different with very nice decorations and have various views of the city. Our room had a lovely view of the city. The room was very small but was cozy. Bathroom also very small but functional. The owners have made a very nice room on the top of the structure for breakfast service which consists of very good food. The location of the hotel is in a complete residential area on a steep hill and is ok in the daytime to walk down to the city but we would be nervous doing it at night. for safety reasons.

We are from Canada and stayed at the Robinson Crusoe Inn before our cruise. The hotel is warm and inviting and as others have mentioned the view from the upper atrium is wonderful. Our son and the two of us had a wonderful suite with 2 rooms and a huge bathroom with 2 of everything. It was great. The breakfast was lovely and elegantly served by the staff. Jorge's recommendation for a meal at the One-eyed Cat restaurant just closeby was great. They serve Thai food and we had one of the best meals of our entire trip. We ate outside and again enjoyed the scenery. For those who want to make sure of their reservation (it is unfortunate that some have problems), I always reconfirm directly with the hotel. We booked months in advance, but a week or so we before we arrived contacted the hotel to reconfirm and no problems!

What an amazing place to stay. The top floor terrace is incredible. It has views out into the port and ocean and the hill behind the inn. I'd spend the end of my evenings up here drinking wine and writing in my travel journal, enjoying the night views. In the morning, breakfast was fantastic with omelettes that were to die for. I'd spend more time drinking coffee and enjoying the morning view before heading out for sight-seeing.

My room was a bit small, but I like it cozy. The inn was decorated in a cross between southwest American and nautical decor. Robinson Cruesoe has a great personality. The staff was great. They got me what I needed, but otherwise left me alone. And they spoke enough English for me to get by fine.

  • Liked — The terrace. A nice place to just relax and take in the amazing views.
  • Disliked — They were having problems with the phone system. So I had to use the one in the lobby, rather than in my room.

We were absolutely delighted with the hotel and the service. The hotel is unusual in design with so much to see in the eclectic/antiques/decor. The attention to detail in service is wonderful.

Views from the upper terrace of the entire town are beautiful. Hotel management was very helpful with finding us a tour guide that showed us an excellent time.

The breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared. We will return to Valparaiso because of this stay.
