“Great contemporary hotel with very good service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

As other reviewers have pointed out, finding the hotel is difficult. Then again, this goes for pretty much any destination in Valparaiso, especially when you come by rental car as we did. The trouble is that most GPS units can't tell between actual roads and narrow staircases. What worked for us was to find Avenida Alemania, which snakes along high in the hills and which you are likely to cross at some point, then find the directions to the hotel on a map from there. On to the actual hotel: we loved the spacious lobby with great views over the city and nice touches like cool sound collages they play on the stereo. We got a kick out of our 2-level room with a loft-like bedroom plus bathroom upstairs. OK, we opted not to drag our bags up the narrow stairs to the bedroom closet but spread our things in the more generous kitchen and dining area downstairs. Having our own terrace to sit and sip wines while overlooking the surrounding hillsides was lovely. I was especially impressed by the receptionist's offer to put out a small breakfast at 5:30 one morning before I went on a birdwatching boat ride out on the Pacific. That's a kind of service I would never take for granted in a small, hip boutique-hotel that rarely caters to early-rising birdwatchers. Great restaurants, major sights and nice little shops are all within walking distance. We left our rental car parked along Capilla during the stay and had no problems with that. One tip: let the hotel know in advance if you come by car and need a parking spot. They have a few spots available but they were already taken when we got there. Note of caution: the hotel is very sleek and hip, but if you need a lot of creature comforts, flawless high-speed WiFi in your room, high-def TV, etc, you won't be happy here, and what are you doing in Valparaiso, anyway?

This hotel maybe small but it is located in the heart of Valparaiso close to interesting artist boutiques but still in residential setting. Sitting on the balcony at night enjoying the sunset was a treat. Easy walk to restaurants and shops but remember its a city of hills!

Three friends and I stayed here for one night. We were very impressed with the decor and design of the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable, with outstanding views of the city. We were treated exceptionally well and served wine in the lobby and courtyard with complimentary snacks. The breakfast was delicious. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Don't get discouraged when you first drive into Valparaiso, you need to get to the UNESCO area which is really charming. With no reservations, I plugged in the address on our garmin, and I thought it was going to self-destruct! So I just told my husband where to turn according to the highlighted route on the garmin. After snaking our way to the hotel, we found a parking spot 4 cars away from the hotel on a severely slopped street that made us glad we had an automatic transmission! I fell in love with this hotel the minute I walked in! (I knew we had to check this hotel out, since the owner is an architect, like my husband, and his wife is a designer, like me.) They were very friendly and we lucked out by getting the last room, which was for 4 people, but were given a discount because we were only two. Our room was in the front (the first night), over the entrance, facing east, with blinds to shade the morning sun. The only negatives with this location is the ticking that came from what was probably the water meter, (so we closed the window) and the noisy table top fan that we had to turn it off so we could sleep. We also discovered that the beds have down comforters (enclosed), but no top sheet. So it was comforter or nothing. This drove me crazy, knowing they had to wash this, so I took it off the bed and found there was a "tab" tucked under the mattress where you could pull the comforter out and use the casing as a top sheet! Duh! On the first floor there is a table with chairs, sink, 2 burner stove, fridge in closet and 2 twin beds with a queen bed on second floor and bath.

The next night we stayed in another room (for 2), with seating, table and chairs on the first floor with bed and bath on the second. This room had a balcony (unlike the first room we had), which was great for enjoying the view with a glass of wine. The "kitchen" on the first floor consists of 2 electric burners, sink, mini-fridge in closet, dishes, flatware & glasses for two. I assume if you want pots or pans, you ask for it.

The breakfast was good, and more than we could eat. Cereal, juice, homemade yogurt, coffee, crepe, the usual bread/biscuits, slice meat and cheese. My only disappointment was when I asked for espresso with steamed milk, it was totally undrinkable. It tasted like she did not use fresh grounds or way too much water was run thru the grounds.

The staff and Elisa (an owner) were so incredibly nice and gave us great recommendations for restaurants!

We recently stayed 2 nights at this boutique hotel, centrally and conveniently located on one of the hills in Valparaiso.

Finding the place by car was straightforward given the easy to follow directions provided by the team before our arrival. We were able to park the car a few blocks away in a locked space provided by the hotel.

Elizabeth and the team were super friendly, helpful and courteous - helping us plan our day, recommending and booking restaurants (and taxis too when required) - it seemed that nothing was too much of an effort.

The hotel itself has only a few rooms - we had a double story duplex with beds on each of the levels and a kitchenette which we didn't use. Beds were comfortable and from them you had a great view over Valparaiso and its night lights. The hotel is quiet, aside from some dog barking, which you'd have to expect given the number of dogs roaming the streets there.

Breakfast is served by another friendly team in the reception area on a couple of communal tables with views out over the city. Fresh juice, coffee and the usual bread and pastry suspects .

All in all, with the warm welcome, friendly service and great location, this is an excellent choice for Valparaiso.

This hotel has a lovely contemporary design. The lobby is gorgeous, with beautiful art pieces. Our room was two-story, which we really enjoyed -- a living room downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. The view from the room was gorgeous. The breakfast was great. We particularly enjoyed the staff -- super friendly and very helpful. The hotel is located very conveniently -- easy walk to all the places we wanted to visit. The only reason I am giving it a rating of 4 is that everything in the room seemed to be done on the cheap side and somewhat unfinished, with wires, etc. sticking out. The bed was also not well secured.

This is another small hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. The views are excellent from the hotel. You can see all of Valparaiso at your feet, and at night, the small lights of the city are very picturesque.

The room is a small studio, spacious and with lots of light. The first floor, you find a nice living room and a kitchenette. The bathroom and room are in the second floor.

Great value for the money.
