This restaurant is worth the visit just to experience its architecture and its view. It is built overlooking a beautiful park with several water features that are viewable from the restaurant. Huge rock boulders support its roof. In the summer the dining area is expanded to make use of the outdoor decks. The outdoor tables are shielded from the sun by numerous umbrellas. I would not recommend this restaurant for those with mobility handicaps nor those with strollers/coaches.
The menu is in Spanish and many of the waiters are not conversant in English. However, you’ll be able to figure out most of the items. The menu is also very varied with no real specialty items. The wine list is excellent.
The food is very good with great presentation. I had grilled salmon and my wife had a shredded beef over risotto. Both meals were terrific.
On the downside, the wait staff is not as professional as you would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. If you decide to go take a cab or leave plenty of time to find parking. It is almost impossible to park in the restaurant’s lot as it is extremely small and it only accommodates stack parking. For my money this restaurant is a little expensive and by no means could be considered a value. A local told me that this is the restaurant where you want to be seen! Given the drawbacks, I would not hesitate to go back to Mestizo.
