“Over prices, under served”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

The building is nice as is the district. Conveniently located near the main blvd (Apoquindo) and two Metro stations. But the problems are significant. Starting with heat and AC. My last visit was Summer 2013 and the days were warm but not record setting. The room AC could not keep up with the day and by evening it'd be nearly 80 degrees in my room (there were a group of use, we all had the same experience). Only two small windows available for ventilation, so it was not cool enough to sleep until after 2am. This was aggravated by the daily remaking of the bed wherein the hotel staff insisted on stacking blankets and comforters - really?? - on the bed, which I then had to remove. In fact, the hotel turned off the central AC at 9pm so in the evening it was nothing more than a fan. I'd stayed here in the winter, and the reverse problem was true - the room was far too cold to be comfortable.

Lesser but still important defects: Internet was both very slow and unstable, losing connection frequently and the entire system being down perhaps 15% of the time. My mini frig - a promising respite from an overly hot room - didn't work either. The light came on but no cooling. Despite twice daily reassurances that they'd fix this, after 4 days it never was. The buffet breakfast never varies - stale breads, over cooked and watery eggs, and meat I could not identify and dared not touch. And finally, while the staff was polite enough, they were poorly trained - or simply incompetent.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are tiny - not much more than a closet - but the suites are large and comfortable...

We stayed here for three nights, July 4-8, 2012. The most attractive feature of the hotel is its location in Las Condes in Santiago, Chile, along a beautiful and upscale quiet, tree-lined street and very close to the Alcantara Metro station and Apiquindo, an architecturally striking area which is both residential and commercial. The room was perfectly clean and adequate and the beds comfortable, but the furniture and ambiance had nothing to recommend them. One of the electric bulbs in the bathroom was fused and needed replacing, and it would have been good to have an exhaust fan in there as well. The hotel has wi-fi, but not in all rooms, so that you have to lug your laptop or cellphone into the lobby if you wish to go online. The two elevators were more European than American, being small and rather slow. However, the breakfast, which was included in the price, was quite satisfactory. Arranged buffet style, it offered plenty of variety and choices and was healthy. There were cereals, yogurts and fruit, though I should have enjoyed a greater spread of the famed Chilean fruit. Maybe this was because of the limitations of the season, it being mid-winter. Also, for those who like to indulge at breakfast time, it would have been good to include bacon and sausages in the buffet spread. The staff, both in the dining room and also others with whom we interacted, like the bellhop and those who staffed the front desk, were invariably polite and helpful and spoke English as well as Spanish. Altogether, we had a pleasant stay and the hotel was ideal for our purpose, which was to visit family who live right across the street but could not accommodate us.

I stayed at this hotel during the Fidae Air Show in March 2012. During the week of Fidae, hotel rates explode. I was very pleasantly surprised by the price of the hotel. It was quite reasonable. Knowing that I was staying here more for the rate than the quality of the hotel, I did not expect much. This hotel was a breath of fresh air. It is in a beautiful neighborhood near shopping, restaurants, subway, buses, taxis, etc. The room was nothing fancy, but internet access and breakfast were included in my stay. The room had a work desk, which was quite handy. The staff was very helpful. Since I speak little Spanish, I appreciated very much the fact that they spoke English. All in all, I had a very good stay and would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend others to stay here.

My only negative comment relates to the breakfast buffet. It left a lot to be desired. The choices were very limited, and the coffee was not very good. I cannot imagine getting bad coffee in South America, but they pulled it off. Nevertheless, this was a minor inconvenience in an otherwise wonderful stay. If you really want breakfast, you have a choice of several restaurants within easy walking distance.

The hotel is in a very safe neighborhood of Las Condes in Santiago, Chile and is closest to the Alcantara Metro station. It's on a very green and leafy neighborhood of high rises and very much a business hotel. The room decor was definitely dated (circa Alexis Carrington Colby) the lift was slow, the breakfast was just a bit above good. But the staff is very helpful and accommodating. Housekeeper was a bit pushy - we were in the room and she insisted on replacing a light bulb as I was in my underpants. Kinda like mom coming in to drop off my laundry as I'm complaining "Mom, can't you wait until later?"

We relocated to Chile for my partner´s job and we were booked into the Leonardo Da Vinci by his new employer while we were looking for an apartment. At first I was not too impressed as the room we stayed in is quite old (but they are in the middle of re decorating) but we stayed there for 8 days and in that time I got to love the hotel. We have a 12 month old son and the staff were fantastic with him. The food in the restaurant is limited but very nice and everything is immaculate. Although the rooms are in need of an update they are very clean and well looked after and the laundry service is fantastic, The staff at this hotel make it - nothing is too much trouble for them and the prices are very reasonable. It is near to the metro for travel into the city and is in a quiet residential area, which we liked so much our apartment is very close to it. they have in house cab drivers that are great as well. El Bosque is about a 15 - 20 minute walk away and has some lovely restaurants.

Leonardo Da Vinci was a good hotel during our stay in Santiago. The hotel is not the best but its good. The best of it is the location: beautiful residential neighbourhood near financial area of Santiago and easy to get to subway station. The staff was not very helpfull with us and the breakfast could be better. We had a room with the Cordilheira view. Considering the price, i think this hotel is a good choice.
