“Bocanariz - great wine, food, and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013 via mobile

This wine restaurant came highly recommended by local residents and did not disappoint. It offers Chilean wines exclusively, and they can be sampled by tasting flights, the glass, or the bottle. One of the co- owners, Daniela Lorenzo, waited on us all evening. Her enthusiasm was delightful. She provided great insight about all of the wines and the restaurant's background. We even got to see the wine cellar. The food was fantastic, and the portion size was fine. The food and service were the best we have had in Chile. All of the waiters speak at least one language other than Spanish, so ordering was very easy. If you are near the Lastarria or Bella Vista districts you should go to Bocanariz and try some wines.

“Wow! Great option for wine and tapas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013 via mobile

We were two couples and ate just "sharing plates" and each of those were creative as tasty. The option for wine by glasses ave us the chance to taste many and adapt to the different food options. The waiters are nice and have good underspending of wines in general and Chilean in particular. Go go!!

“Thoroughly enjoyable evening al fresco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013 via mobile

Bocanariz

We happened to walk past Bocanariz while poking around Lastarria one evening. We liked the look of the place, a modern tapas & wine bar with chic decor. It was a comfortable summer evening, so we chose an outside table. We were immediately greeted by the co-owner Jerome, a tres charmant Frenchman who has lived in Chile for 15 years. For the rest of the evening, Jerome circulated among the diners, making sure everybody had what they needed. A hands-on owner like Jerome really makes a difference in hospitality, we feel. Food-wise, we ordered the sea bass and the chef's "secret" stew. Both arrived in mini covered tureens. The sea bass was accompanied by a flavorful sauce and polenta cut into thick sticks then fried crispy. The stew, made with beef tongue and pickled vegetables (carrots, cucumbers, pearl onions) was very tasty, the hearty meat perfectly balanced against the tangy pickled veges. We also ordered 2 different Chilean Chardonnays. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening in the lively Barrio Lastarria.

“Nice place to dine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Nice restaurant with charm. Great wine selection and the food is special. I would love it to be in a little bit bigger portions. Service was fine.

“Skip Patio Bellavista - Eat Here / Try a Wine Flight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

I agree completely with the dozens of other people who rave about the food here. As someone who loves to eat out the sheer number of favorable comments peaked my interest to try this restaurant. My husband and I had also walked through the neighborhood Barrio Lastarria several times and loved the young, European feel. I was somewhat wary that this place was going to be super expensive and had a difficult time finding any information on line about the prices. But we decided to go for it and give the place a try. Much to my surprise, many of the small plates are right around $10 and the entree plates are all less than $20. We shared two small plates and a large plate and it was too much food for us.

The Chilean wine flights are very reasonably priced and this is a great way to try different and unusual kinds of wine.

Many fellow travelers and the teachers at our language school recommended that we eat at Patio Bellavista. We had a meal there and were very disappointed. In hindsight I'd spend more money in Barrio Lastarria and at Bocanariz.
