i am literally writing this from the 16th floor club room internet computers where my wife and i are still waiting for access to our rooms after waiting several hours. this despite staying through the amex platinum fine hotels and resorts program which everywhere else in the world has enabled us gracious early check in if the room is ready. after flying from san jose to atlanta, then straight onto the red eye to santiago we arrived at the hotel very tired at almost 9 am and were first told by that our rooms would not be available until 2 pm. i asked this first dim bulb to check again and she did and then walked us to the elevator up to the 16th floor club room recpetionist who said we had 2 choices. 1) take our upgraded room thanks to amex which is available now but pay an extra 50% half day charge.....or 2) wait until 11 am and then take the room. I politely asked to speak to the manager who arrived, refused to give me his business card, and reiterated what the receptionist said. i told him i´ve traveled all over the world and understood if he didn´t have a room available but did not understand if he had a room available but refused us access unless we paid an extra 50% half day charge for what amounted to less than two hours use until 11 am. So now my wife and sit here playing with the internet waiting dimly for our room. The only reason I didn´t swtich hotels to the Ritz is because my wife is exhausted and my cell had decided to not work at this key moment and by the time we would swtich it would be after 11 am. I just cannot believe the obstinancy of the manager and the treatment of guests in this way. Ridiculous.

  • Liked — nothing
  • Disliked — the worst service i have received having traveled all over the world. seriously, the worst.

We attended an international meeting arranged by a Chilean host organization, and had therefore not chosen this specific hotel. When we arrived, we asked for a room from where we could enjoy the view of the beautiful mountains. We then got a room at floor 15, with the reservation that we had to wait a few hours before we could move in. As a compensation we was offered a free breakfast. Having inspected the big, but cold (winter season) outdoor swimming pool and the fitness centre with sauna, we, just before noon, got access to our room, which was gorgeous!
Breakfast every morning was good, even if not over whelming. We had one buffet lunch at the Anakena restaurant, which also really good. We have no complaint concerning the service, but we were surprised that the staff were not really aware of the privileges Hyatt is offering its Gold Passport holders. We seem to be the first who had asked for "complimentary newspaper, daily coffee ...". After some internal discussions among the hotel staff, we finally got our "extras" totally aside the ordinary routines, as we understood it.
The location requires you to either go by taxi, which we do not like, or walk to the end station "Escuela Militar" of the red Metro line. There is a lot of buses passing Hyatt, but you need to have a Bip-card for the payment, and such magnetic cards can only be bought at the Metro stations. As we understood it, you can go with this card on Metro and any buses for CLP 380 within 90 minutes.

  • Liked — The mountain view
  • Disliked — Lack of information on how to travel with bus and metro

We stayed here for the first week of our honeymoon. It was perfect!

When noting that this is our honeymoon, we got a room with mountain view. The service was very good.

The rooms were very comfortable, what a way to start your day, looking out of your bed into the amazing mountain range.

The rooms were cleaned twice a day, bathrooms very clean.

The room service menu was a bit better than the restaurants, but there is also a mall with some very nice restaurants in walking distance.

We did a combined sight seeing and snowboarding tour. so it was very nice to stay at a very luxurious hotel, yet you didnt have to feel uncomfortable/underdressed going to breakfast with ski-clothes or hanging around the lounge in jeans.

the downside was that the pool is only outdoors, so it was not possible to swim, since it was winter. the sauna(s) are divided by gender, so it was not possible to relax in the sauna with my husband, which we didnt really appreciate. but thats probably the culture.

  • Liked — it deserves the 5 stars
  • Disliked — the amazing outdoor pool is too cold to swim in in the winter

This is my second stay at this wonderful property. The worst part was that I was only inhouse for one day to rest after an overnight flight from Ecuador. It was then home to Australia that evening.

The property is almost faultless. I was met at the airport and transferred to the hotel where the concierge was waiting to meet me. Check in was quick and seemless with most of it occurring in the room. I had booked a Club Room and had been upgraded to a suite which included a terrace garden. THis is the same room type I had before. Truly, you do not want to leave!

The room is very large with the expected separate lounge and bedroom. The welcome fruit bowl and bottle of Chilean Cabernet was a really nice touch. The room is spotless and the bed very comfortable. The view would have been excellent other than for the torrential downpour which lasted all day. Instead I had to enjoy the Bang & Olufsen televisions!

The staff at the Grand Club are also very professional and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. They had also organised an extended check out until 8:00 pm which was the time of my transfer. Breakfast is a veritable feast and evening cocktails are accompanied by another fine spread.

There is only one thing missing from the rooms and would you believe that is an ironing board!!

Otherwise there are many reasons why this hotel is the top property in Santiago.
