We stayed here prior to our cruise. Our room was booked via the Crystal cruise line. The property was not in the best location for walking to places. Other than that, the property and staff were wonderful. Our room faced the mountains and watching the morning sunrise was spectacular. Our room came with all the amenities that you would expect (robes, slippers, etc). The grounds had a great outdoor swimming area with a beautiful water fall. You could sit outside and have breakfast or cocktails. A definite 5 star property.

Room Tip: An eastern view for the morning sunrise was spectacular.

Dear Guest,

I am glad that you had a good start to your holiday cruise. Our location is certainly unique as it is not in the downtown area however, it has allowed us to have a beautiful landscaped property with a large outdoor pool. If you do come and visit us again, we would be more than happy to help you with sightseeing options that are dispersed throughout the city or with a wine tour not too far outside of Santiago.

With kind regards,

Marc

I have been staying in the grand hyatt for quite a few years mostly for business purposes.
This past January i was there again but this time as a pit stop for leisure stay in Chile.
Since this time I wasn't wearing a suit, this young man was having the worse attitude toward us, Asking us if we really had a reservation and made us wait 45 mn for a check in... Reservation was not done correctly and I got a very noisy suite. (By very noisy kennedy avenue)
for more than $700,00 per night you would expect a quiet room. Even though quite roomy, suites are old, bathroom outdated with plumbing issues. After complaining we had a flat excuse from housekeeping no word from hotel director Mr Lorenz that i happened to have met a few times. Next day the same person displayed the same depicting attitude, apparently no actions have been taken by any supervisor.
At check out the fare magically went up by 200 % of what was expected.
When fare correction was made, the hotel refused the use of my hyatt gold passport points. Since I had a plane to catch, I just left, knowing this would be my last stay.

Staff indifferent, rooms clean and comfortable, large convention when we were there that overwhelmed them and made it difficult for us to get service or seats at restaurant. Staff at on premis restaurant, Anakena, was difficult. We wanted beer and snacks until dinner would be served. Many empty tables, but they made a big deal out of it that we didn't have a reservation. It was 4:30 in the afternoon and only one other table was occupied. Never did figure it out.
Overall, I would say that there was nothing outstanding about this hotel. The main factor that keeps them "mediocre" in my mind is the lack of friendliness of the staff. We were "just customers" and they were just doing what they needed to do to get a pay check.

My wife and I spent two nights in Santiago in November. Despite being in the middle of the city, once you enter, the Grand Hyatt Santiago is like an oasis. The rooms (we had a room with a mountain view) and baths are outstanding! Service is perfect! Location is wonderful! We have not stayed in any other Santiago hotels and we like new experiences, however, we will absolutely stay at the Grand Hyatt on our next trip to Santiago!

Huge gorgeous rooms and a very accommodating staff! This hotel has about everything you'd want on your great hotel check list:
The guest rooms are about double the size of comparably priced hotels.
There is a very nice work out facility and spa. Nice bar with live music.
On property is a wonderful Thai restaurant on property.. just a short walk outside.
Really good service throughout the property.
I have referred this property to more than a hundred people and have received no negative reports back. Consistency is a rare treasure in any service business and this is one that you can count on.

Lovely hotel with first class service. We stayed on the executive level which was a great value for the money as it includes breakfast, an evening reception with cocktails and concierge services. Our room was wonderful with plenty of space. We enjoyed waking up every morning and seeing the panoramic view of the city. The hotel also has great restaurants. We really enjoyed the Thai restaurant, so much that we ate there twice during our stay. The entire staff exemplifies an "at your service" attitude. We look forward to returning on our next trip to Santiago.

Room Tip: Definitely upgrade to the executive level

My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hyatt for one night in December 2013 and were very pleased with our stay, even though there was a labor strike at the time that reduced restaurant availability and dining service considerably. This is a beautiful property with a good location. We had a king room that was very spacious and comfortable with a step down sitting area overlooking the front of the hotel. The pool and outdoor patio areas are lovely and well maintained, including the tennis courts and the fitness/wellness spa. All of the staff were courteous and helpful, and the breakfast buffet included in our nightly rate was abundant with a wide variety of fruits, egg dishes, etc We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to family andfriends.
