“First Class Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

My fiance and I spent Thanksgiving in Santiago and stayed at the Ritz. We were VERY impressed with the service and our room was great. Our AC was not working in our first room and the manager immediately switched us and fixed the situation. The concierege helped us daily (in case you don't know English is rare in Chile) and their staff helped us with restaurant choices, and even with concert tickets.

Overall the service was what sold us as an American couple there for the first time. AWESOME!

Room Tip: If you look on the website ahead of time you can upgrade for a reasonable rate

Plus:
This hotel is a classic (I mean older) building. It is well maintained with great decoration and service. The pool itself and the lounge were simply amazing while overlooking the city. The Golf area where the hotel is located in is one of the best if not THE best. Clean, quite and free of sad looking homeless dogs :(. Lots of great restaurants and shops in walking distance. Make sure to try Tiramisu Italian restaurant. The Golf subway station is also a few feet away from the hotel, which is a huge plus for people who would like to have the full Santiago experience. The price was high compared to other hotels in Santiago but very reasonable for a RC.

Minus:
The carpets in the rooms desperately needed to be changed, so if the management is reading this please arrange for it ASAP. It's really below any 5 star hotel standard let alone the Ritz Carlton.
The hotel struggled with modern age technology a bit. The key cards kept getting deactivated for no reason. It happened more than 5 times to 3 of us in the 5 days that we were staying at the hotel. Since the elevators operate with the cards, we would get stock and had to wait in line for the front desk for the cards to be reset. They were very nice about it but I'm sure both parties could put their time to better use.
The wireless Internet also had its problems having blind spots but not a big deal.

I would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay there if I ever visit Santiago again, hopefully the carpets would be changed by then :)

Like most Ritz Carlton hotels, this one is beautiful. However, this hotel is extra-beautiful because it feels smaller and more boutique-ish than some other larger Ritz Carlton's. The decor is wonderful - traditional in the lobby, bar and rooms and yet hip and modern in the restaurants. It all works perfectly somehow and I was delighted from the moment we arrived.

We were there for New Year's Eve and the hotel hosted a wonderfully festive pre-fix dinner with wine pairings, followed by music and dancing, liberal pourings of champagne and fun hats and other costume items for greeting the new year. The tables were very festive with new year's decor. We had a wonderful time that evening and throughout our stay at the hotel. We found the food to be excellent and the service quite good.

The rooftop pool and spa provide a very pretty and serene place to lounge and we enjoyed spending time there. However, that would be the one area of the hotel that is in dire need of improvement. The people that work there seem to be rather lazy and unconcerned about customer service. We saw used wet towels everywhere and there was always a shortage of fresh towels. I had a favorite pair of sandals disappear while I was there and the pool staff weren't terribly concerned about helping me to find them. Things get lost or stolen at the finest of places but the nonchalant attitude was disappointing.

Also, five-star service in most luxury hotels means that as soon as someone leaves the pool area, the attendants tidy things up, remove the used towels and refresh the baskets with clean towels. It also means removing used glasses and drinks. I had to do this myself every time I came to the pool since the attendants were too busy talking to each other to bother tidying up the place. Not good. I would still highly recommend this hotel but I do feel the management needs to attend to this issue in the pool area for the sake of the Ritz Carlton reputation.

Super spot to stay even for an overnight
We stayed overnight and were pleasantly surprised as to the cleanliness of the surrounding area and the super friendliness of the hotel staff. Great breakfast even the healthy omelet

Stayed here for four days. Has to be the best hotel in the city. Great location, great top floor pool area. Has the best views of the city. All the staff were great, would recommend it as I would all ritz's properties.

Felt that the staff was genuinely friendly and very helpful. This more than made up for a few minor deficiencies. Help and service was promptly provided when requested. Always seemed to be an English speaker available. Liked the roof top spa, pool and gym

The area has many walkable restaurants and a few little parks. Also close to the metro although we did not ride it. Felt very safe even at midnight. Many families out in the area.
Would return without hesitation

read all reviews, booked ,went, and was pleasantly surprised...very clean, polite service, excellent club floor with tasty hors d'oeuvres and wines up to Ritz Carlton standards, well worth the extra money, hotels cars will pick you up at ship or airport...a must in santiago where safety is definitively a big issue, do not wear any jewels,watches,$10 chains,etc...this is real, get registered cabs, they will try to exchange your good notes for bads...so hold the notes one by one when you pay and show that the bills are new and point to the number on them while you hold them..then when he agrees let go,not before !!!! if you can,use the hotel fleet, not the place to save money...

Room Tip: club floor rooms are a must
