“Wonderful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Felt that the staff was genuinely friendly and very helpful. This more than made up for a few minor deficiencies. Help and service was promptly provided when requested. Always seemed to be an English speaker available. Liked the roof top spa, pool and gym

The area has many walkable restaurants and a few little parks. Also close to the metro although we did not ride it. Felt very safe even at midnight. Many families out in the area.
Would return without hesitation

read all reviews, booked ,went, and was pleasantly surprised...very clean, polite service, excellent club floor with tasty hors d'oeuvres and wines up to Ritz Carlton standards, well worth the extra money, hotels cars will pick you up at ship or airport...a must in santiago where safety is definitively a big issue, do not wear any jewels,watches,$10 chains,etc...this is real, get registered cabs, they will try to exchange your good notes for bads...so hold the notes one by one when you pay and show that the bills are new and point to the number on them while you hold them..then when he agrees let go,not before !!!! if you can,use the hotel fleet, not the place to save money...

Room Tip: club floor rooms are a must

Just returned from a cruise that began in Velacruz, Chile. The staff at the hotel are thoughtful, help more then I could have dreamed of. The beds are so comfortable, sheets so crisp and fresh! The pool and hot tub so magnificent at night time. Just one thing, be sure to make hard copies of your confirmations. I emailed them before and it was imperative to have those papers and highlight. Make it easy for them!

Room Tip: E ail them ahead of time to confirm your room type.

We stayed two nights at the RC, Santiago and checked out early.

The Good:

Great location in El Golf. Cannot be improved upon there. Elegant rooms and public areas. Excellent breakfast. Had a spacious, clean, well-appointed junior suite. Staff friendly and pleasant.

The Bad:

Room was unbearably hot, even with the addition of another a/c unit. When that unit shut off and gave us an error signal, we just left. 2 nights awake in the stifling heat were too much. Roof deck had no shade, so was useless in the blazing sun. Pool under glass dome was small and shallow. Not very exciting.

Service was slow, slow, slow. This is pretty much standard in Chile, but I expected more at the RC. Mind you, it was slow. Not rude or impatient. A fine distinction to make, but it prevented the RC from being up to the usual international RC standard.

Room Tip: Make sure the a/c works. Be patient with the staff.

Standard Ritz Carlton quality with nice location, close to business district and main restaurant hub of the modern part of Santiago. High quality rooms and amenities, comfortable beds. Good service level and attentive staff. Nice club floor with extensive offering, however the breakfast offering on the club floor was very limited and could do with a significant upgrade. In general food service (except for snacks and at club floor) seem a bit restrictive and limited (sent to the lobby bar outside limited opening hours for early lunch etc.) W Hotel close by provides a more contemporary alternative and much better food, but if you prefer classic luxury The Ritz Carlton is the way to go.

Room Tip: High floors facing the square

After a two week cruise, we spent two nights in this lovely comfortable hotel.
Couldn't wait to get home to my bed but this bed was just as nice as mine.
Located in a great neighborhood with lots of restaurants around including
the hotels. Breakfast was a real treat, with everything you could think of,
including a good bagel which is unusual to find in South America.
Luxury bathroom with all the amenities, a welcome bottle of wine and
some very nice chocolates and cookies made for a most pleasant stay.
Felt like we were in a good London Hotel.

We chose the Ritz Santiago based on the chain's excellent reputation and its location. It is difficult to rate this hotel, because some aspects were great, while others disappointed. Granted, this may be a personal preference, but with the exception of the bar and the pool area we found the style in both the public areas as well as the guest room stuffy, pretentious old-fashioned and drab. The hotel clearly needs updating to modern standards. Aside from that, we did have a pleasant stay, due entirely to the staff on the Club floor. Our room was ready for us at 10:30 AM, which was a nice perk. Natasha in particular was of great help. She is a seasoned professional, as were the other staff at the concierge level. We also enjoyed a very nice dinner at the Tapas restaurant. The food was top quality, as was the attentive and friendly service, especially from Diego. The restaurant style is modern, a welcome change from the rest of the hotel. We hope the Ritz will receive a makeover in the near future.

Room Tip: Corner suites on higher floors
