“Pricey but outstanding staff and good location and amenities.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

Stayed here 5 nights on business. Arrived at midnight and had a 5am flight to Concepcion in am. Staff were super friendly and helpful and all were bilingual even in the middle of night. My first room in the old tower had no heat, and the shower head was weak and dribbly and could barely spray 6" off the wall. I asked for a repair of both or room change the am I left and that evening when I returned they moved us to the new tower (and also b/c the Venezuelan soccer team was coming to our floor and they did not want us to be disturbed by reporters or rowdy players). The staff assisted 100% with the move and the manager gave a complimentary bottle of cabernet for the inconvenience which I thought was super classy. The new tower is very contemporary asian design with a great bathroom (tub and shower, all modern fixtures). Beds in both rooms were extremely comfortable and there is complimentary happy hour from 5-10, breakfast 6-930 (there are 2 places to get breakfast 1 in each tower), and wifi. It is right by the riverfront park for jogging or walking and close to metro, and many bars and restaurants. Overall a great stay, but the older rooms could use a little work.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new tower. Eat breakfast in the old tower, it has a bigger buffet.

I travel for business, the hotel looks nice, clean & good service. I went to the renovated area, the room looks nice but ilumination could be better , in general the hotel lacks of personality, a little bit boring , no good restaurants inside the hotel.

Room Tip: Renovated area is much better

We stayed at this hotel for three days. It is a very nice property with multiple towers of varying ages. We were in one of the newer towers. The room was excellent, clean and well maintained. The amenities were very nice. The service was commendable, but much of what you see is really kind of a fancy facade. I am not convinced that any of it warrants the high price. This was my first stay at an InterContinental so I don't know if it is the same at all of them. In comparison with various Hilton Hotels I have stayed at, this hotel was not as good. The one thing that is good about this hotel is its location. It is within easy walking distance of the subway and buses stop near by as well. The area it is located in appears to be the financial district and is quiet at night. There are also some nice little parks within walking distance.

Room Tip: There are multiple "towers" at this property. Some are fairly old while the one we stayed...

Outside the room (Hotel infrastructure): Ok

Inside the Room: Old and very small Room. You CAN'T change the temperature of air conditioner. NO HOT (with 7 degrees Celsius) water in the morning (30/08/13) and the front desk say only "Sorry". Absolutely my last time at Intercontinental Santiago. Choose Radisson or Four Points... Cheaper, much much better and with good locations too.

Had a wonderful two night stay at the Intercontinental in Santiago, Chile. The room was huge as was the bed, which was heavenly. I felt as if I was sleeping on a cloud. The hotel has a fabulous breakfast room on the first floor. Lots of choices in beautiful and tasty food. You would not be disappointed. Walking back toward the front desk I spied a shop which had very interesting jewelry in silver and with various stones. Quality pieces. Some silver boxes and pottery, etc. Fair prices. I later traveled throughout South America and wished I had purchased more pieces as gifts. The hotel staff was very accommodating. I requested assistance from the Concierge for a hair appointment. He made the appointment at a shop called The Boss which was around the corner on Isidora Street which turned out to be awesome. The hotel concierge even arranged for an English speaking staff person at The Boss to interpret for me during my appointment! Finally, there are lots of cute restaurants around the corner from the hotel for evening dining.

Santiago has plenty of good hotels. This Intercontinental is a good option with a good value for money (obviously depending on the deal you get). It has two buildings. I would always try to get a room on the newer building, which has more updated rooms and more "sofisticated" service.

Positive: (i) location, if you are travel for business purposes, there's a wide variety of restaurants close to the hotel, walking distance to the new Costanera Center shopping mall and close to business district; (ii) if you have access to the Vip Lounge at the new building, they offer free and decent breakfast, coffee and snacks all day and light dinner; (iii) service is excellent.

Negative: (i) at the old building Wifi connection needs upgrade; (ii) gym is small, old and the hotel charges additional fee to have access (not worth it); (iii) rooms are good but not great, somehow small for this type of hotel.

The location is quite convenient for a business visit. The lobby is impressive. Easy to get a driver or taxi. Very helpful staff and functional wifi. Room was average. Excellent breakfast. Hosted a pleasant happy hour in the bar area thanks to an accommodating team there.
