“Nice appartment hotel in Providentia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013 via mobile

Well located appartment hotel in the Providentia district of Santiago. Clean spatious appartment with well equiped kitchen. Close to the red line of the metro, many shops and a large variation of restaurants. Rooms on the street side are quite noisy. Roof terras and swimming pool.

We have stayed in a two-bedroom apartment in March. Excellent location, nice, clean rooms. Free wireless. The reception stuff does not speak any English, you should be warned. Rooms could use a handyman and a bit of upkeep: some light bulbs were burnt out, the headboard was detaching from the wall etc. Not perfect, but very good indeed.

This is a perfect base for a family in a country where rooms for 4 are hard to find. There is no sign out at all, so be certain to have the address and find it that way. Security at the front desk will tell you that check in is upstairs in one of the hotel rooms. Spanish speaking only. Clean and well appointed with a small but very well supplied kitchen. The manager couldn't be nicer, and had even moved our luggage out for us when we failed to return on time for checkout due to a rental car problem. However, I wouldn't be confident that someone would be available if you need to arrive/depart outside of office hours.

The pool is a lot of fun, with viewing windows below the water level. Not sure if this is typical, but when we were there (just before Christmas) it seemed like a party hub, with about a dozen twenty-somethings openly boozing, smoking, and loving it up in front of our kids at 5 pm. Empty wine bottles rolling about, etc. I suspect they may have been residents, as this seems to be an apartment/condo complex as well. This isn't a reason not to stay there, unless you plan to spend all of your day at the pool. The room was quiet. Having no AC wasn't a big deal when we were there (12/21), but it might be later in the summer.

I had just stayed in a very poor apart hotel, and for the same price I stumbled upon this great place. Wish I had stayed there the whole time - incredibly clean, stylish studio room with a fully functioning, very modern kitchen. Gym which I had all to myself when I used it before work, with full views over the city and a rooftop pool and barbecue which would have been great in summer. The only hitch was that there was no one in the office when I came to check out (around 8.15am) so I had to leave my things in my room with a note on saying please could they keep them in the office. When I later returned to pick up my things, there was still no one in the office. But this is a fairly common occurrence in this type of apart-hotel in Santiago. They did hold onto my things for me and were very helpful. Overall a great experience.

When arriving I was more like a surprice to the reception. The responsible staff are not at the hotel. It is a seperate company. I had to wait for the room until somebody arrived with the key. First question was: How long are you staying ? The room was booked well in advance and prepaid. After traveling from Europe to santiago you are tired. The next morning i realized the the table that was mounted on wall was allmost falling down. It was supported by a chair and a collander that normally are used to stir pasta. (see attatched picture) I requested a new room. But they did not have any. I was asked to accept one more night without a functioning table. (Need to have breakfast standing). If I accepted they promised to refund one night (USD 66 or CLP 33000). I accepted but I never got the refund despite the promise. I payed full price for a room without a functioning table for two nights. I spent two mornings waiting between 0830 and 1230 to information about a new room and to get the new room cleaned after previous guest.
I protested but no understanding at all. And no staff speak english. This had to be discussed in spanish. Although I have studied spanis a few years it is not good to do this discussions. And one more thing. This is not a hotell. It is appartments that are rented out by a seperate company that has nothing to do with the reception for the private apartments.

This hotel consists of apartments with a shared reception. The receptions function is mainly security and calling the owner/contact for the specific apartment.

Apartment is well furbished with a kitchen, oven and microwave but no dishwasher. Also a seating area and separate bedroom. Our apartment was on the street side and did not have an air-conditioning unit. Because of the location (busy intersection) this means a lot of noise or a hot apartment.

Welcome, explanation of the area and written text is mainly in Spanish only. The provided map (and free wifi internet) will still make it easy to navigate the city. The neighborhood is rather safe and shopping, restaurants and supermarkets are closeby. There is a direct phone to the contact of the appartment if there are any questions and good laundry facilities are available in the basement.

Hotel is a nice place to stay, outside of the busy city center but near a subway station (about 15 minutes to city center).
