I stayed in another hostel in Santiago on my way in and found this place when I was headed out of the country. This place was GREAT value and in a cool neighborhood that's easily accessible to the rest of the city by metro. The decor is great, the beds are comfy, and it has a great vibe of backpacker folk milling in and out all day. The people working there are incredibly friendly and kind, and Ignacio, if he's still there, is the bomb. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone in Santiago.

We have stayed twice in the Princesa Insolente and really enjoyed it. Even the bigger dorms are great and very comfortable. Everyone has their private areas and there are plenty of places you can put away your private belongings. The concept of the entire hostel is very thought out. The common areas are extremely welcoming and cozy. Even though there are shared bathrooms, they feel like private ones. Besides the fact that they are very clean, they are, as the rest of the hostel, creatively decorated. This hostel makes its guests feel like there home. Everyone can use the cozy kitchen, the computers with internet connection, the living room with a TV and DVD collection and enjoy good times with international people.
The staff consists of very different, but yet very cool people who make you feel welcome from the first second.
Go there and you will not only start the day with a good breakfast, but also with a smile on your face because of the nice staff surrounding and taking care of you.

The hostel has good location. It is located only three blocks from the metro station Republica. The neighborhood is OK, but it is within short walking distance everywhere and it was safe. The building is nice, outside and inside. Especially inside it has been nicely renovated and tastefully decorated. It has a nice reception area, living room with large TV and many comfortable couches; computer area and pleasant courtyard with a grill area. The kitchen was also very nice. It was spacious, well organized and equipped. The rooms are located on both storeys. I recommend staying in the rooms on second floor as the first floor gets noisy. Especially noisy is the “Yellow Room”, which was my room. This room is in between the reception, the living room and hallway with window opening into the reception area. It was very noisy with people playing guitar until early morning. It is a poor idea to have a sleeping room in this location and to place the most mature guests, at the time, into this room.
The staff was very good, hospitable and informative and happy to help. The Wi-Fi and breakfast were good and both included in the rate.
My bed had new and very good quality mattress; clean, bright white linen and towel. Each bed had its own reading light and plug. All areas in the hostel were clean and well maintained.
I recommend this hostel, but only for rooms away from the common areas, especially the reception.

I was a little apprehensive when I first arrived at the hostel as the atmosphere wasn't great and the hostel was full of couples who weren't that friendly however as with all hostels the turn around was quick and as new people started arriving things picked up. The hostel itself is very clean and very modern. The rooms are big and the beds are lovely, it felt just like home! The kicthen was big and very well stocked. The common area with TV was big and comfy and the staff were friendly and helpful (apart from one guy). The hostel itself is a little way out but not too far from a supermarket and the subway so easy to get to places. All in all one of my favorite places I stayed in the whole of South America.

First thought about this hostel was "its a really nice place": The kitchen has a big oven and its all complete. Also they have speakers to you play your own music!
The bathrooms, kitchen, and rooms always was clean and tidy. The rooms has a big lockers for each one but the little padlock for travellers doesn't work. Anyway they have bigger padlock there.
The matresses are really comfortable and the beds has curtain, so that is awesome to sleep during the day!
And the best thing is... the friendly Staff! Juani, Lolo, Nico, and all of them really want to make me enjoy Santiago de Chile.
