This is a Valparaiso restaurant that has recently open in a truly great location as part of the outdoor food area at Parque Arauco in Santiago. Extensive, with outdoor heated areas and two indoor levels very appropriately decorated with ship hulls, mastheads and other nautical themes and complete with a few seagulls watching over the diners. It is a casual layout with just the right amount of hustle and bustle. The menu is quite concise in each aspect with about 8 to 10 options for starters, salads main course and desserts. The theme is clearly seafood with many traditional dishes featuring fish and shellfish. Service was slow but friendly and being a Saturday evening with a full house I would say that it was because they were somewhat stretched both wait-staff and the kitchen. We had a glass of the house Sauvignon Blanc and nibbled on the warm bread roll and small sopaipillas and had almost finished our glasses by the time the main course arrived. My wife had Caldo Marino, a broth of shellfish and I had a Chupe de Mariscos, a kind of creamy stew of shrimps. The Caldo was too weak with little taste and my dish, although very tasty, was tepid when it should have been much hotter. Our waitress offered us a dessert to share to make up for the delay, which was a mousse of Lucuma with berries. Little taste of Lucuma which again was disappointing. All in all a little disappointing but the restaurant is appealing and I think once they iron out a few issues it will be a pleasant place to return to.
