“Excellent hotel, great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

Located in the El Bosque Norte are, a lovely neighborhood with a variety of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Very close to the metro station, banks and one of the best wine shops around, Mundo de Vino. The hotel is modern, well appointed, large rooms with some good views of the city. Breakfast is on the top floor and offers both good food and a fantastic view (coffee service is sometimes a little slow). Highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed at Plaza El Bosque for 2 nights. We had booked a standard room but were upgraded to a suite for no extra charge when we said at check-in that we wanted a quiet room with a nice view. The hotel is located in a business district, so it's likely that it had a lot of vacancies because we were there on a weekend.

We chose this hotel because we were advised that its location is convenient for accessing the main sites of Santiago via subway and is a little nicer than staying in the city center, where things shut down pretty early for tourists. There are a number of restaurants not too far from the hotel.

I got a better rate for the hotel using its online booking tool than by emailing the hotel directly. I then noticed an even better rate was available by using tripadvisor's Orbitz link, which automatically applied a coupon code that discounted the rate an additional 5%. Also I noticed that the weekend rate at the hotel was quite a bit lower than the weeknight rate.

The hotel is clean, comfortable, has wifi throughout (included in the room rate), and has nice views from the upper floors. We checked out the rooftop bar (also where breakfast is served) one evening. Amazing views, but it wasn't very lively so we didn't stay long.

Breakfast is included with the room. Food was average; a decent selection but nothing special (eg., eggs made-to-order would be nice). I give it an above-average rating though for the view.

Staff was friendly and helpful, and we had no communication problems despite our very limited Spanish skills (many of the staff members have good command of the English language).

Rooms great, food good, strong drinks in bar. Room great, a little bit of a problem with WiFi at first, but I fixed it. Inconsistent answers to questions, found it best to talk in person, and go to the source. Great breakfast, great view.

Styed in the hotel during a short business trip, the hotel was quite nice, rooms on the small side for such a hotel, but all very nice and clean. Location is very good, close to all kinds of restaurants and a huge shopping mall.

One negative comment, the wifi network was very unstable, upon my complaint they just confirmed the problem but did not inform if and when it would be repaired....

I have stayed in this hotel for 3 nights post-cruise. Overall impression was that it is a business-oriented hotel, with excellent location, great amenities and nice ambiance. Here are some details:
Room - we had two standard rooms on 8th and 11th floors. Both were spacious, clean, but one of them had some grimy looking staff in the bathroom tiles. Room cleaning was done very promptly and did a great job. Bed was very comfortable and overall room impression was very excellent.
Amenities -- great breakfast and and free wifi! Nice business center (used it to print boarding passes). The restaurant on top had also dinner buffet on Wed and Thur nights and the food was excellent. The view from the restaurant was amazing. We always went there for drinks and/or dinner.
Location -- cannot ask for better location. Right in the middle of Las Condes, next to many restaurants, cafes, convenience stores and huge mall. Safe to walk the streets after dark, green clean streets, beautiful view of the mountains. Very short ride away from many of city's attractions.
Staff -- while not all of the front desk people spoke English, they were all very pleasant, and would be happy to ask concierge or another colleague to translate. The check in and check out was very prompt, they managed line very well. Concierge desk was always helpful and everyone spoke excellent English. They provided suggested airport transfer that proved to be very reasonably priced and could have been charged to room Follio (we opted not to do so)
Overall, I would not hesitate to stay again in this wonderful property in the lovely city of Santiago.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for higher floor -- they have better views.

The room I stayed in on the 9th floor was a small suite - very nice indeed, with a little kitchen, fridge, microwave etc. The bed was excellent, the noise isolation good (except for the very loud A/C), and the bathroom was pretty good too with a small bath tub.

Another plus is that the hotel is located in a very nice neigbourhood, with bars, shops, restaurants and a metro entrance not far away.

On the less positive side I have to say that I had the feeling that the (numerous) staff was not always well trained. The fitness "club" opens at 6 a.m., but there is nobody there. Around 7:30 h heaps of staff are then coming to obviously change in the bathroom of the fitness club. A bored attendant later on seems to spend most of her time on what looked suspiciously like private phone calls and was hardly available for any questions. Service in the restaurant/bar on the ground floor was sometimes painstakingly slow, even when the place was not busy. Upon arrival we inquired about the possibility to have a coffee on the 17th floor restaurant (since our room was not ready before 15 h on the day of check-in), but we were told there that there was a buffet lunch and it was not possible to have a coffee there (again, the place was almost empty, and we had the feeling the refusal had more to do with the lack of appetite for more work than with logistical difficulties to serve a coffee).

The "swimming pool" on the 17th floor has a bit of bath-tub quality to it, which is understandable in this earthquake-prone region, just don´t count on "swimming".

Overall a good place, but not nearly as good as the room rate that I had to pay (USD 320 per night including breakfast) would suggest.

We stayed here for a night. Luckily., we were upgraded to a suite. The room was very spacious, with almost a complete kitchen (kitchen supplies and refrigerator included), had a living/dining room and a desk area. The higliht is the roof pool and the views you get from there. In the morning, breakfast is varied and again, the views are stunning. Personal is kind and helpful. Check out was quick and untroubled.
The area has lots of restaurants and bars, for bussines travelers is very well located.

Room Tip: Suites are truly spacious. Have kitchen suplies, a living /dining romm and a desk area.
