“Casa Bonita, Santiago, Chile”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

Casa Bonita is a clean and very well located Bed and Breakfast. Located a couple of minutes walk from the La Republica metro or less than 10 minutes walk from Los Heroes where there is a bis ti/from the airport and minutes from Barrio Brasil, Casa Bonita has many advantages. The building itself is lively with nice wood floors The shared bathrooms are spotless with great showers and in two nights I never found someone else trying to use them at the same time as me. The breakfast is substantial with yogurt
Rt fruit and fresh eggs as well as real coffee. All of the staff is very helpful. There was no problem storing my pack for the day and then coming back and prepping for my flight that night.

Room Tip: There can be some street noise on Friday night, so upstairs may be better, but there was no noise on...

Pleasant, helpful and professional staff and the rooms were spotless. Only a few blocks away from a supermarket and right near the red line subway. Wireless works well or you can use the computer they have available. Breakfast is basic, but fine--toast, an egg, cereal, yoghurt and juice.

Downside is if you happen to get a room facing the street. The walls are like paper--almost no sound proofing. You might as well have the students chatting on the street at 7:00 am, the dogs barking to midnight and the general late night chatters right in your room. Sleep quality in these rooms is poor--push for a room not facing the street if you prefer quiet at night. No, earplugs are not enough!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the main street in front.

Visiting Chile for the first time w/my husband who's family is from Chile (he was born and raised in the US). This Bed & Breakfast is less than 1 min to the metro (red line) which takes you to all the important sights of the city. Very EASY to get around w/the metro.

The B&B is by the universities so the area is busy w/many students. It can be a bit loud w/the things a city brings, but my husband and I were able to sleep through it all. This may be a problem to some. The bed was PERFECT (better than some US hotel beds)

The owner, Dennis, is one the reasons we loved this place so much. He was able to help us out w/places to visit, eat, and any other questions we had. He hired a cab for us the night before, but they were late so Dennis drove us to the airport so that we can rent our car for the rest of our stay in Chile.

I would highly recommend this place for it's proximity to all the sights in the city, it's cost, and safety. I would stay here again.

Hit this B&B both before and after the trip down to Torres del Paine in Patagonia. They held luggage for a week just as a big hotel would have done. Rooms were large and clean, first one shared two clean and spacious bathrooms just down a short hallway and the second had a bathroom with shower in the room. The help spoke English and was very helpful both with a recommendation for a good restaurant and sights to see a little out of the usual tourist locations. The breakfast was simple and tasty and the woman who cooked and cleaned could not have been more helpful, she was wonderful. Its about 1 block to the Republica stop on the Metro Red line although you can walk to the heart of the city and the parks . All in all a delightful experience

We stayed here twice between Feb and March 2014. Location was perfect-one minute walk to the tram and yet located on aside street in anice neighborhood,

The staff working for Dennis-Claudia and Monika were fabulous -could not do enough for us from showing us the places to see to making reservations and taxis. The breakfast was great.
We thank you all for making our stay so nice.

I am going to Casa Bonita in about two weeks, but I must comment on my experience so far. My email for information was answered promptly and the booking people have far exceeded any expectation! They are so helpful and I can't wait to get there. I am not sure I have ever experienced such wonderful service before I even arrived!

Casa Bonita is an old house restored as a bed & breakfast. It is a National Monument located in a protected historical neighbourhood in the center of Santiago. Casa Bonita has a high historical value for Chile since it used to belong to the well known Vicaria de la Solidaridad del Arzobispado de Santiago, a foundation created in 1976 aiming to protect and defend human rights during the Military Regime. The Vicaria supported 984 cases and operated during the entire Military Regime. It closed in 1992. Casa Bonita offers a cosy environment with well furnished rooms, new and modern bathrooms, a comfortable living and dining room, a lovely interior garden and an internet room with free access. Casa Bonita is personally run by its owners (a Dutch-Chilean marriage) aiming to provide its guests with a quality service for a fair price.
