“EVERYTHING YOU WANT IN A HOME AWAY FROM HOME”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2012

We prebooked Hue Quimey Hosteria from Canada. After a very long overnight bus ride from Santiago, our arrival at Hue Quimey was most welcoming by both Christel and Nicolas. Since our morning arrival was early, out luggage was stashed and we were offered a very delicious breakfast long before the other guests arrived for theirs. The little wood stove was taking the chill off the morning. I might add the same quality of breakfast continued throughout our stay – European-style breakfast torte with real coffee, along with an assortment of cheese, meat and homemade breads and marmalades. Our evening meal was just as delicious.
Our comfortable well-appointed room faced Villarrica Lake and the volcano by the same name. It was fun to sit in the sunny window or on the patio to watch water activity, the little wood train which picked up passengers or the promenade strollers, walkers/joggers. Our ground level room featured an exit door that gave us quick access to the patio, where we continued to relax, have happy hour and ‘watch the world go by’.
Christel was very helpful in making suggestions for day excursions in and around the area and assisting with accommodations in our next stop-over. Clara and Felix (the couples’ children) operated a very lucrative and welcoming ice cream stand located on the corner of Hue Quimey’s lake front property. If Nicolas saw you coming into the house, he was up and opening the door to welcome you in.
We couldn’t have asked for better a stay.

Room Tip: Ground level made access to outdoors very convenient

This lovely family run hotel has everything we are looking for in accomodations: excellent service (everything we asked for was possible), the best breakfast we had in chile and beyond, lovely room with very comfortable beds, great views and a quiet and welcoming atmosphere. we came for a few days and ended up staying a full week.
Highly, highly recommended.

We arrived in Villaricca looking for a hotel room with a view of the volcano Villaricca. A lot of places were asking a lot of money for not very much and when we walked by the shores of the lake we couldn't help but see this quaint hostel. It had to have great views. We thought it would be out of our price range but we were very pleasnatly surprised. Not only did we get a room with a view within our budget, but also real coffee and lovely cakes out on the terrace! Christel and Nickolas, the German- French couple who run the hostel, treat you like part of the family. Every effort is extended to make you feel welcome and relaxed. The rooms are charming, clean and functional. The bed is comfortable. The hostel also has interesting common areas where you can chill out reading, writing and have a couple of quiet drinks all still with a view. They also provide good advice and are willing to help out with any problems you may have. We enjoyed it so much that we would go back in a heartbeat.

Did I mention the great meals as well. Their breakfast is the best I've had in Chile or Argentina. Also, they offer good evening meals for reasonable prices compared to the rest of the town of Villaricca.

Room Tip: Ask for a second floor room so that you can get the most of that amazing view

Arrived in Villarrica with no room booked....found the Hue-Quimey while walking along the lake shore....The French-German couple who own the hosteria are very friendly and accomidating. We were served a drink and cake out on the patio overlooking the lake, due to a very cloudy day didnt get to view the volcano (we did do a detour on the way back from Frutillar as the skies had cleared and it was an awsome sight)
The rooms are cosy, we had a second floor room overlooking the lake with private bathroom.
Supper was good, so was the included breakfast. we would return here again.

We had a lovely stay with excellent vulcano views from our rooms towards VIllarrica and some further to the north. The French/German couple running the place was helpful in any thinkable manner. They made a big effort in making us feel good from the welcome coffee, to local tips and special service late at night. Nice rooms with uneven floors and a welcoming breakfast - even with some rare pan integral.

Why not five stars: Unstable internet access and no credit card payment. And decent coffee would suit the character of the place.

We will be back.

Room Tip: Top left is great for lake and volcano views and a sitting place while kids are sleeping.

We picked up Hotel Hue-Quimey a bit randomly from the Lonely Planet. The owners changed and it is now run by a French-German couple who travelled and lived in many places in the world. They go out of their way to make sure your stay will be awesome. They will give you lots of advice about places to go for a drink or dinner and things to do in the area, they lent us a hairdryer and bathrobes to go to the hotsprings... You feel more like in a family than in a hotel, the views from the rooms are just breathtaking, and the breakfast is very good too. Everything is just great and very good value for your money. We loved it so much we decided to go back to Villarrica just to enjoy staying in the hotel!

Turned up on the doorstep after reading the positive reviews on Tripadvisor and from the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel so welcome.

Shown a choice of rooms and chose to spend more on room 1 with a spectacular view of the lake and volcano. Offered a cup of tea on the room - such a simple thing but so welcome after travelling through the day and it made us so happy!

As we arrived so late on the first night we ate at a recommended pizza restaurant which was fantastic but opted to try the food within the hostal on the second night due to other good reviews. Wow! Fantastic food, very good value and made all the more enjoyable with the friendliness of the owners. This ensured we ate here for the remainder of our stay. Make sure you try the pisco!
Breakfast very good - no rationing of tea bags or coffee and freshly toasted bread to be enoyed with great views.

Also their children who were friendly, polite and extremely helpful in booking bus tickets. Their son is also a promising cook!

Room Tip: Ask to see the available rooms-this is no problem and lets you choose one that suits your budget and...
