“Wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2011

I could not recommend the Hotel Puelche more.

The room was huge with 2 big comfortable beds and a view over the lake to the volcanos. The bathroom was large and spotlessly clean. The staff are friendly and helpful and even brought us some champagne when they found out it was my friend's birthday.
The restaurant attached to the hotel served outstanding food and was full of locals, always a good sign. We were lucky to get a table.

I loved staying here. Puerto Varas is beautiful, and this hotel is just fabulous. Clean, and well appointed rooms. We were a "triple" and we had excellent accommodations.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our seven-day stay at this beautifully located, boutique hotel. We received personal attention, getting to know staff members, throughout our stay and the design and architectural quality of this hotel was luminous and inviting. It is just at the edge of downtown, with a small spa room, where we enjoyed an afternoon of sauna and massage, and an inviting living room on the first floor, complete with a roaring fire. On each floor, there is a sofa and table to form a sitting area, with large windows with stunning views of the lake and surrounding volcanoes. The breakfast spread each morning on the second floor offered an enticing variety of kuchens, fresh fruit, yogurt and croissant for the complementary breakfast. Best of all, there is an excellent restaurant right next to the hotel, where we could bop over, order dinner, (with waiters that speak English) and have it delivered to our floor for a romantic evening for two (La Ollita). No need to trod around town looking for a decent place to eat when it is right under your nose. The food here is really great (we tried the congrio, stuffed avacados, salads with palmitos and avocado, and caldio de congrio--yummy!!) All in all, it was a consistently stellar experience. Highly recommended! A tip--there is construction going on across the street which creates a small amount of noise during the day, so we asked for a room facing the opposite direction.

We stayed here for two nights in Nov 2010. The hotel is lovely, well decorated and with a stunning lounge area on the ground floor. Our room was really nice, with a great view of Osorno, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. The location is great for walking into town (about 10 minutes) for restaurants etc. (There is a hotel restaurant and cafe but we didn't try them.)
There was a good buffet breakfast. Staff were helpful but didn't speak a lot of English.
Free wifi throughout.
We would definitely recommend.
Go eat at Chamaca Inn for fabulous seafood!

We had no high expectations of our stay in the Lake District. When we arrived the weather was overcast & the view across the lake disappointing so when we woke up the next morning to see Mt Osorno in all its glory we had such a lovely surprise!! The hotel rooms are large and airy & we had a view to die for! The staff were excellent & the breakfasts very filling! Our bed was so comfortable too!
A short stroll and you were in the centre of town with a good choice of restaurants.

The Hotel Puelche is a smallish botique hotel ideally located on a quiet street within easy walking distance of the bustling and noisy centre of Puerto Varas. The rooms are large and very well appointed; the breakfast (included in the room price) was the best we had in Chile; and the hotel restaurant is good (although one is spoilt for choice by the many really excellent restaurants in Puerto Varas). The hotel staff are all extremely helpful and in particular arranged all our excursions for us before we arrived. Overall, we would unreservedly recommend this hotel.

Puerto Varas is a pretty little resort town on the shores of a deep-blue lake with views of two splendid snow-capped volcanoes. We can't say enough in favor of the Hotel Puelche, which is comfortable, well-managed, and equipped with every modern amenity wrapped in a crisp, blond-wood Scandanavian modern decor. We didn't use the adjoining restaurant, which looked quite nice. Breakfast, on the hotel's second floor, was a fine Continental buffet. The staff was totally professional and helped us competently and cheerfully with a couple of problems we encountered which were not their fault. We were worried when the hot water ran warm in the middle of a shower, but it soon got hot again, and we suffered no undue discomfort. The location is about a twelve minute walk from the center of the town, which is small enough to be safe but large enough to have plenty of stores, pharmacies, etc. We dined that evening at the "German Club," established long ago by German immigrants to the area. It still serves some German specialties, but no one there speaks a syllable of German. We were glad we hadn't shown up in lederhosen. The town has many other fine dining spots, many of them likely better than the Deutsche Verein!
