We returned to Xic Dali recently,
on a whim
we had a reservation, on a regular low season weeknight, and the place was soon full.
the owners, sisters Meche and Kika (there is also a third sister still living in Spain) are consummate hosts, and we asked for their chef recommendation.
We had two types of fish, including a fabulous reineta (which is a deep water relative of the flounder, firm white flesh, very fresh) from the region, as well as corvina.
Normally I'm not much into sauces and the like for my fish, but it was part of the recommendation, and it was delectable.
not too heavy, not too saucy, just right!
We also got into the wine list, which features everything from the ever delicious Adobe organic wine (one of my favorites) at 9.900 pesos, to Lapostolle "Casa" which we had (14.900) in sauvignon blanc.
The list also extends into multiple choices from Catalunya, at the high end of the pay scale, and several varieties of french champagne and spanish cava.
Sangria is also on offer, made right then and there.
I noted down some choices for a future visit:
San Jose de Apalta Gran Reserva 2006 16.000 ensamblaje
Valle de Leyda Leyda Reserva 2010 Pinot Noir for 14.500
there is a sweet choice of catalan favorites, freshly made with southern Chile dairy products, so we had to try a bit of everything.
Service is outstanding, which is probably because the owners are maitre'ing
definitely worth a visit while in Puerto Varas
ah, the prices per dish are around 9 to 12 thousand chilean pesos.
