It was a beautiful yet challenging hike. Excellent views from atop the volcano. Please note that once you arrive at the base, if you are offered to take the chairlift up the first 1400 feet, you will have to pay. This was something we didn't know about and I'm unsure of whether I didn't understand when they told me or if it was not mentioned at all. Just be prepared. It is probably best to take the tram as those who do so simply wait for the rest of the group to reach them. Takes about 30 to 40 minutes for this initial climb. The guides were very good, speak English and do a good job of explaining the safety protocols in the short amount of time they have to do so. Takes just about 5 hours to complete the climb. I definitely recommend this climb as the views are spectacular and the workout is awesome! And it's nice to say you've climbed up a 9000 foot volcano.
