“Nice hostel, great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

very friendly and helpful staff. Nice cafe sitting area in front and lovely deck out back on the upper level with a great view of the volcano. Poor sound insulation in the building so you easily hear people in the next room and walking up and down the stairs. That said, I still slept well. I got bitten by some sort of bugs one night (not mosquitos but I don't think they were bed bugs either, probably fleas) but they very quickly changed all bedding without question. The room was a bit small

Overpriced and bedbugs! La bicocleta was definitely there when we needed a hostel arriving late to pucon but we were given a super small room with shared bath for 28.000. Even though pucon is a bit expensive this was a rip off. We were left with many bites and a rather sour taste in our mouth...

When I booked this place, I also went by comments I had read online. And the comments did honor this location, which is a warm, home like little place in downtown Pucon, very close to the bus stations, the lake, supermarkets and anything in the town. The location was very convenient. I am not in the age group of people that go to hostels, but this was a first for me. At first I thought the occupants in the next door rooms were too noisy, and that happens in hostels, with so many young people. But the next day, when the noisy girls were gone, the place was more normal and of the 10 rooms there, you could hardly hear a beep. The place is clean, the bathrooms too, and the food is delicious. The staff who was working there at the time, Melissa, Sarah and Raymundo were super and very willing at any time of day to cater to your needs. The owners Jose and Francisca are lovely and also willing to accommodate whatever you need. The pillows were flat for my taste (but I had taken mine!) and the walls are not very thick, so any noises next door and beyond can sometimes be heard. It isn't bad though, and with ear plugs (like one would take in any travel), it was fine. Sometimes a very noisy little sandwich bar next to the hostel becomes noisy at wee hours of the morning, as it if the after hours place for party goers to come eat something after their partying. This place was sometimes too noisy, but nothing that would keep you up. I had a double bed room for myself (shared bathrooms), which was just fine, with a closet with plenty space, a night table and a lamp. The bed was a good size queen, with a nice comfy and warm duvet cover for those cold Pucon nights. I didn't like the pillows, but that's just me. The time of year I visited was February, the Summer, but temperatures fluctuate between very hot during the day and cold during the night. It also rains quite a bit. If there is a siren that awakes you in the middle of the night do not freak out...it is because the nearby fire station rings it every time there is a fire or an accident. I forgot to mention you cannot use the kitchen at this hostel, but you really don't need to. There is a fridge for your use, and then any food from the kitchen is ordered. Those staying at the Hostel get a discount from the menu prices. They also have a TV connected to Netflix and games, etc. which the kids (of the owners) use it most of the time. However, as a guest yourself, you can use it too.

Room Tip: There are rooms with bathroom and with shared bathroom, so choose what you will be most comfortable...

We stayed in a private double room in La Bicicleta for two nights. The wifi signal was good, and the owners were very sweet and welcoming. The double bed was comfortable, but the room wasn't much bigger than the bed. There were two full shared bathrooms across the hallway, and we never had to wait for one to use. We did find the neighborhood a bit loud at night with the windows open (too many stray dogs barking!), but the situation probably would have been the same at any downtown hotel. In general, we felt we were a bit old for the hostel environment, which was full of younger travelers. However, it was a great value and reasonably comfortable.

Francisca and her family were very welcoming and friendly. They gave us some great suggestions what to do in Pucón and the area. Jose told us about the Termas Geométricas which was the best possible advice he could have given us. The rooms and facilities are very clean and the hostel is located right in the centre of Pucón - 4 minutes to the biggest supermarket in town, 30 seconds to the next restaurant, and there are a bunch of travel agencies close-by. Although the breakfast in not included in the price you should try their breakfast. Desayuno sano is a real treat and probably the best breakfast I have ever had in a hostel. You will get a discount on the normal prices so it is definitely worth it. The beach is about 10 - 15 minutes away from the hostel. The only disadvantage is that it is really loud in the morning, as the wooden floor forbids a smooth wake-up.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the end of the hallway and you have to try the breakfast there!

We are Australian and found this place very laid back and comfortable. This is a great place to stay, Francisca and Jose were fantastic and they have a beautiful family. We stayed in the private rooms with ensuite - these meant our needs (very clean). Jose speaks very good English and was very helpful with booking tours, other stuff and just great to have a chat to. Francisca was very friendly although does not speak English, however most of the time we could communicate freely. We stayed for four days and would definitely stay again. Nice and central to restaurants and shops. Breakfast was not included, however there are many cafes close by. Very colourful place.

La Bicicleta is a really lovely hostel. The location is excellent, right in the centre of Pucón. It is very clean and comfortable. We stayed in one of the private rooms at the back of the garden, which are very quiet and so conducive to a good nights sleep! The owners of the hostel are incredibly friendly and know the area very well. José is able to recommend the best excursions and where to go if you just fancy hiring bikes instead of going on an organised tour. The breakfast is not included in the price of the room, however a discount is offered for guests at the hostel - this actually works well, as if you get up to climb the volcano it is a little too early for breakfast anyway!

Room Tip: The private rooms at the back of the garden are a little quieter, and if you want a lie in there is...
