My husband, mother and I stayed here for six nights at the height of the summer vacation season in Chile. This is an older property. Due to the structure being wood the rooms and majority of the main building is non-smoking. My mother had a small room with a private bath, my husband and I a larger room also with private bath. Both rooms had television with 3 spanish language channels, closets, and electric safes. The safes did not work so we utilized the deposit boxes at the main desk. There is parking secured behind an electric gate. The hotel has a gorgeous garden with fruit trees, and a nice pool. Inside there was a dinning room which served breakfast, heavy snacks, and drinks. There was one internet computer accessible to guests with a minor charge per hour. A glassed in porch in the back had two round tables, chairs, and a glorious view of the volcano. This room was listed as the "smoking room" however we three only encountered a smoker in here once during our stay. It was our favorite place to congregate and have drinks and appetizers (rounded up from the local market) before heading out for the night. Some drawbacks, the hotel is rather old and the furnishings reminded my husband and I of the shabby vacation cabins of our youth. The beds and baths were clean and comfortable but utilitarian. Our bathroom had a small sink, shelf, and a shower with sliding doors, and no shower pan-just the same linoleum as the floor laid up the walls a bit and a drain in the floor. There was no air conditioning-no suprise at this point, very few older hotels in Chile have or need it. A fan was supplied when we requested it. My mother also got a hairdryer when she requested it. Some of the front desk staff spoke limited English. The remainder of the staff only spoke Spanish. This was not a huge problem to us(anywhere we went in Chile, except this hotel); but the language barrier appeared to frustrate them. We felt some on the staff were not happy with us at all. We did enjoy our stay; but sometimes went out of our way to minimize contact and frustration. On the up side this hotel was smack in the heart of everything. It was a short walk to anything we needed. The town was very full but there was minimal noise in the early morning hours-unlike resorts here in the States. We only used our rental car for excursions out of town. Driving in town was silly and useless due to volume of people and vehicles.
