“Wonderful Setting. Wonderful Building.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2012

The Teatro del Lago is set on the shore of Lago Llanquihue, in a majestic new building that actually goes out into the lake on concrete piers. It is a state-of-the art building, with geothermal heating, and nice architecture.

The Teatro has a nice cafe inside with spectacular views of Osorno and the surrounding mountains and some days you can see the still active Puyehue Volcano. In the summer the Teatro has scores of cultural events, including opera, classical music concerts, lectures, dance, etc.

All in all, a world class building with world class events and views over the top.

“A Fantastic Cultural Addition to Southern Chile!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

This was the second time we attended events at El Teatro del Lago. Although the Semanas Musicales of Fruitillar are 43 years old, the theater was just finished a year ago. We chose three days worth of events and spent two nights in Fruitillar. The Don Quijote Ballet with the Ballet de Santiago was beyond words. Fabulous! We next attended one of the most creative performances I have ever since: HumAnimal, p "children's performance" by the Circo da Silva of Rio. If you EVER have a chance to see them, don't miss it, or at least check them out online. Third was yesterday's talk by a Chilean astronaut, which was quite interested and opened us up to a totally different world. Last night, the Gala de Estrellas ballet was also impressive, though not nearly as colorful as Don Quijote. The performers were top-notch. I just wish Fruitillar were closer to Pucon, where we live, because they are now offered events year-round. The problem is that food options in Fruitillar are disappointing and expensive, except for Se Cocina (pricey but exceptional).
