“A place to go”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

I would highly recommend Oosters. The food is good and I feel they offer a good range of beers.

The price is average but slightly towards the expensive side but it is worth it.

I went there on a Friday night with 2 male friends. We ordered the house special, Mussels, sauceage platter and pork knuckles. They were all delicious and yummy, especially the pork knuckles - the skin was crispy and done to perfection.

Sevice staff were all friendly and attentive.

The restaurant is always crowded and thus, if you are going there in a big group, suggest you call to make a reservation to avoid disappointment. It is located near the CBD area and is within walking distance to Raffles MRT station and Chinatown.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

I took my Belgian partner to this restaurant as she was wanting a touch of home. If you want the beer then you get the touch of home, however the cuisine unfortuantely has been away from Belgium for too long and is starting to miss the point. Since when has mousaka been a Belgian food.

I would hope that one day the chef returns to Belgium to see what the cuisine is like as its night and day from what Oosters is serving unfortunately.

“Good Belguim beer and food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

I am a great fan of Mussels and Belgian beer. It was to my surprise that I found one here in Singapore in walking distance from my office in Raffles Place vicinity.
I find this place nice because of its location but also the atmosphere inside. I like the fact that it is not somehow not too crowded and also not too pricy.

“Not meeting my Belgian expectations”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

As a Belgian, sometimes I like to have one or two of my home dishes. Sorry to tell, but don't go to Oosters, except for beers.
The food was of poor quality and the service was really slow, even if it wasn't crowed when I went there. The Belgian fries, a proud speciality of my country, weren't not fried enough. And my friend had a disgusting croque-monsieur. Do they know where to buy real ham and cheese in Singapore? Not to mention that the meal was overpriced for its value.
Conversely, beers and deco are what you can expect in a typical Belgian bar.

“Good place gone downhill”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2011

Good:
the beer! the only real reason to go
atmosphere

Bad:
slow service
poor food
high prices

Used to be one of my favourites, not anymore. The food quality - even the chips - has gone way down. Service has also gone down, slow and not as charming/friendly as before. Still has great Belgian beers, at very high prices - but then this is Singapore - alcohol is v high, especially at bars and restaurants.
Will not return again. They lost their touch, just another expensive tourist/banker ripoff. Too bad, this is was a unique, quality place some years ago.
