“Still one of the best restaurants in Singapore.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

Having booked this for valentines I was expecting a half-hearted attempt at a decent meal. From the nice table outside through to the shared dessert, this was one of the nicest meals I've had in Singapore. The service was great, the food great and the atmosphere great. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

“Don't Judge a Book by its Cover”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Went to this restaurant as a walk-in. It is located in the gentrified Duxton Hill area which has numerous bars and restaurants. It looks nice with a euro bistro style in an old shop house. The service was courteous and attentive. The wine list is quite good.

So far so good, however, the food was perhaps the worst I have had in Singapore. The menu/food style is allegedly Australian modern and does feature a number of Aus. ingredients including Tasmanian salmon, Australian lamb and kangaroo. The salads were all overdressed with dressings/mayonnaise that taste like supermarket products. The interesting sounding "mushroom brawn" was one of the most badly implemented, peculiar dishes that I have ever encountered in a restaurant. The "signature" lamb main course consisted of lamb fillets (which were tender and cooked pink) coated with burnt garlic and smothered with Bisto like gravy and what tasted like supermarket mint sauce. It was accompanied by roast potatoes and slightly tough green beans. This is Australian suburban, domestic Sunday roast cooking done indifferently, certainly not remotely like modern Australian bistro food, and not worth over S$40. I really cannot understand how places like this seem to be able to survive in Singapore when there are so many restaurants around where the cooks actually know what they are doing. I would definitely not recommend this place. It is a wasted restaurant opportunity.

“Highly impressed with service and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

We visited Broth as a group of eight people on a Saturday evening. We had booked in advance, but due to traffic were held up by about 20 minutes. Despite arriving late (with the kitchen closing only 45 mins later) we had excellent service, very attentive without a single error. We ate outside on the cobbled pavement; the lighting was appropriate and added to the ambiance.

Everyone in the group thought the food was excellent. The Kangaroo meat was perfectly pink and tender. The spinach and mushroom starter was light and not over-dressed.

We will definitely be returning. Quality service in Singapore is hard to come by.

“Finally a good restaurant in Singapore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

My husband & I joined a local friend for lunch. After so many disappointments in Singapore, our expectations were low. Then suddenly, the beer, wine, food & service was of a standard we would expect of a better Australian restaurant. Everything was EXCELLENT! Well done, Head Chef, Louis Loo & your team. We had salmon meals, which was well cooked, prepared, presented & interesting tastes. Keep up the good work! It was such a relief to find a good restaurant in Singapore.
