“Great location but not much else to recommend it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

Check in was good until we found that our assigned "Superior" room did not have the requested queen bed, only two singles. When I approached the folks at reception about it, the response was "Well, that room is all we have available now." Basically, take it or leave it. Fortunately, the maid agreed to push the two singles together and make the bed up as a queen. Superior in Singapore carries its own special meaning - basic anywhere else.
Pre-paid breakfast was OK, however we ate dinner at a food court around the corner which seemed very popular with the locals. The hotel is close to Chinatown and a moderate walk to the Esplanade and the Flyer. Very easy access to the Hop-On Hop-Off bus.

The room was really large although the bathroom was quite small. We did have a bath with a shower head over it, whereas our friends had an updated shower only which was very nice. The beds were as hard as a rock and there was a lot of street and airconditioning noise. We overlooked the old Fire Station but there was no noise from there. It was very central to everything, buses, MRT (City Hall station). Internet was expensive but the small coffee shop next door has free wi fi so that was a real bargain. The doors to the rooms from the hallway made a lot of noise on closing.

Breakfast was included and there was a large choice and included hot foot.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a view of Marina Bay Sands!

Located at the center of the city, this hotel is very near to the City Hall MRT (metro station) and other tourist areas are also quite near. Overall its was a nice, though the room was small but clean and maintained.

Room Tip: Peninsula tower has a better view than the excelsior tower.

Was only here for 2 days, so difficult to really properly appraise it.I would say that it fitted all of our needs and was very comfortable.
Pros
Big room with grand windows overlooking some nice green spaces
Good breakfast buffet with a lot of choice
Central location 5 mins from Clarke quay
Wifi available throughout
Good club lounge with spectacular views of mbs etc.
Clean hotel

Cons.
Incredible expensive for drinks. A small cocktail costs round £10
No one to show you to your room when you check in.

Would defiantly recommend for a weekend stay, it can be good value and the setting is quite nice.

Room Tip: Go for the upper rooms. Better views

The location is great, mrt is close by, and many sights and shopping centers within walking distance! The big bus tour stop is also close by! The stuff is friendly an helpful, and the breakfast was good! Our room was average.
I would stay here again!

We were given a room on the 22nd floor with a fantasic view over the Marina Bay area and of course the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. The service from check-in to departure was very good. We were in Singapore for a week this visit, and had previously stayed at this hotel when we were last in Singapore 11 years ago. Singapore has certianly changed but this hotel and its service has remained. (There has certainly been refurbishments done since our last stay). By being on the 22nd floor, we were entitled to use the club lounge for drinks (free from 6.30pm to 8.00om) and to have breakfast (which was excellent).

The location of this hotel is very good to get around Singapore. The MRT only a short walk away, and the buses plentiful. There are many restaurants around the Peninsula Hotel and Plaza - including Burmese as well as fast food outlets.

The laser show which was a nightly affair from the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Casino were seen from the club lounge or our room. Nowhere near as spectacular as the one in Hong Kong but entertaining nevertheless. There appears to be some cranes in the area in front of the hotel, so the views may be wiped out by new buildiings in the next few years.

When in Sangapore next, will definitely stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a harbour view room in the Peninsula part of the hotel.

We got an excellent deal for a De Luxe room and our check in was handled by the front desk Manager, Agus, in a most professional and friendly manner setting the scene for a very comfortable 4 nights stay. We travelled by car from Malaysia so the location was not the best for us but the MRT is about a 5 minute walk. The whole area seems to have been taken over by Myanmar migrants so the Peninsular Plaza had an amazing choice of Myanmar food which
we ate for the first time (twice during our stay). The room was a fair size with a very nice bathroom and fully functioning shower (so many hotels don't have this).
The breakfast was superb with a good choice of quality food. Hotel scrambled eggs often resemble a road accident but theirs was just like home.
Despite the location we would stay here again for sure. For Malaysians travelling by car the parking is about S$10 per night.

Room Tip: Try to avoid a room above the road junction can be noisy late at night and early morning.
