“Good for a stop over”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We have just stayed at the hotel. The staff were attentive and helpful. The rooms were clean and well supplied. Swimming pools were great to entertain teenaged boys. We had an issue with one of the rooms smelling of drains. Occupants were moved to a room on the smae floor. We didn't eat at the hotle but just around the corner are eating malls which are cheap. The hotle was idealy situated for all that we wanted to do.

We stayed here for one night as a stopover on the way to London. Reception for the hotel is rather strangely located on level 5 of the building.
As you step out of the lift on level 5, it is like stepping back into the 1970's. The decor and the furniture is definitely from a bygone era. Check-in was fast and efficient and helpful advice, in relation to directions to Clarke Quay was provided at the the Concierge's desk.
Our bags were delivered promptly to our room by a pleasant and courteous bellboy. We were provided with a large corner room on the 10th floor. As a corner room, it had good views in two directions. The kingsize bed was comfortable but again the decor and the furniture in the room was quite dated. There was a good sized, clean, well-maintained bathroom.
Breakfast was not included in our tariff and we dined elsewhere. When we were ready to check-out, our bags were collected promptly by another courteous and polite bellboy and delivered to the luggage pick-up area on the ground floor. Check out at reception was somewhat hectic with a very large tour group checking out at the same time. Because of the large numbers checking out at the same time it was virtually impossible to get a lift to the ground floor. We therefore made our way down via the stairs.
In summary then, a good comfortable but not luxurious hotel, ideal for a short term stopover in the heart of Singapore. Well located for access to Boat, Clarke and Robertson Quays as well as a number of shopping centres.

First put in a smoking room and had to stay 1 night, but rectified the next day. Told our corporate travel planner to book appropriately next time. King bed was comfy, but too big for the room. Queen size would have been better suited. Didn't like huge window in bathroom in 1st room - no easy mirror for shaving. 2nd room fine. Ivy and her staff in the lounge were excellent!! Laundry service was good. Easy walk to MRT and onward for meetings in Suntec tower complex. Would definitely stay again.

This hotel goes out of its way to make you feel comfortable and looked after, without fuss. The location is sublime [especially for those facing the Harbour] and the staff are extremely friendly and attentive.
The rooms are always comfortable, clean and have all the amenities you need while travelling.
The lobby with a birds-eye view of the pool, and the swimmers in it, makes it a good place to wait, have a drink or nibble or just relax in the air-conditioned comfort.
As for their restaurant on the top floor - fabulous views, excellent service and good food make it a dining pleasure for everyone. You can also go up to the roof from there for an even better view of the city.
I have stayed there both as someone doing business [once] and someone there doing the tourist 'bit' [four times].
I would highly recommend this hotel to both types.

Room Tip: The Harbour-side rooms have a great view

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. This hotel is centrally located, with many restaurants, shopping centres and other attractions within easy walking distance.
We were disappointed that there was no free Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi costs were high - we opted to access Wi-Fi at local cafes.
We had a great view from our room, and the Singapore nightscape is magnificent. We were woken intermittently at night with noise of elevators, or other guests. I found the bed very uncomfortable - although I prefer a hard mattress, I woke with a back ache most mornings.
One of our biggest disappointments was the breakfast bar - although the buffet was quite spread out across the dining area, there was not much variety offered, and food available was generally overcooked or cold.
The best feature of this hotel is the 22nd level - again, fantastic views of Singapore, and friendly staff.
Not sure we'd choose to stay here again - location and views are the drawcards.
