“Small & Dirty”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

We stayed here & despite enjoying the location (only 10 min walk to Kallang MRT station) hated the room itself. The room was extremely small, which is normally ok but we struggled to comfortable fit out luggage & manoeuvre around the room! There was also a massive wad of black hair stuck on the wall of the bathroom which was pretty distracting while showering. The bed was rock hard & had those scratchy hospital sheets on it. Lets just say its lucky Singapore is so awesome & there's heaps to keep you busy outside of the hotel as this place was a dump!

This is a cheap way of getting a room in Singapore.
The place is clean, air conditioned and the service is good enough but the rooms are a little small - well you get what you pay for.
This hotel is placed in the red light district, but I wasn't bothered by the girls at all, and thats a big +.

You have busses or tour operators nearby, and the same goes for the railway to the airport.

We stayed in a deluxe room, that came along with bath tub in its toilet. Fast check in and check out process, clean and quite spacy room that will be cleaned everyday, bug-free bed, and accessible to anywhere in Singapore would be the star points for this Fragrance Emerald hotel. The down side were only: there was no wifi connection for free (have to pay the expensive rate for using the internet facility), and the fact that the houskeeping crew often forget to refill the toilet paper.

We stayed there for 6 nights, with a bunch of people- 6 adults 4 children, but didn't meet any problem at all with the location, because fragrance emerald situated in further area of what that they called as red distric. The environment is clean and safe. We arrived from airport at 01:00am, but the hotel served our check in efficiently. Taxi fare from airport to Fragran emerald hotel was S$25, included the midnight surcharge.

About 100meters from the hotel, we can find a bus stop. The nearest MRT station is about 500 meters indeed. So we prefer take a bus, or take bus no 2 and alight at Lavender station if we want to continue our trip by MRT.

Room Tip: avoid rooms around the elevator, as it was very noisy with the came and go visitors all day

Thank you for taking time to write a thoughful review and I'm glad that you had enjoyed your stay with us!

I'm sorry to learn that the toiletries were not replenished on a daily basis as this could have been overlooked. Nevertheless, I had already relayed this feedback to my Hotel Manager and this shall be briefied to the Hotel Housekeeping Team.

I look forward to your stay with us again!

We stayed in a deluxe room, however the only real memory we will walk away with is the fact that there was some kind of hideous water pipe located somewhere very close to our room, which made an outrageous noise every 30 minutes or so. It even made this noise during the night, which woke us up. We got used to it eventually, but it's not good to have this kind of thing in a hotel room.

I am sure not all rooms have this problem, but if you want to take a risk and hope you get a different room, go for it. This problem aside, the hotel was satisfactory. It was simple but clean, and with a fairly nice location and friendly staff. But why risk it? I know we will try and stay somewhere else next time, who wants to sleep next to racketing pipes?

Room Tip: Ask for a room with NO WATER PIPES NEARBY!!!!!! Our room was 215, at least make sure you do NOT get...

Space in singapore is expensive, so the rooms are economical, if your after 1000 square feet apartments/hotel rooms which cost the earth, there are plenty in singapore, but not here.

The hotel rooms are compact with basic amenities
The rooms are clean and air conditioned, and any card with a magnetic strip can act as a power card. The beds to be fair are for the ethnicities of Asia and tend to be shorter, they are firm, and have a very simple sheet and blanket.

No cable, DVD players, safe or scales are available, and you will need to move your own bags about as there is no usher. Internet is available at a cost, the cost is quite steep so if its essential, do it at a mall.

The staff are friendly and can speak English, and a plethora of food is available very close by.
The vending machines offer basics, and within 20 metres you will find several Malay, Indian and Chinese restaurants all selling Malay cuisine.

Taxis are easy to get with staff assistance at the hotel, or a short walk can get you to kallang station, the sort I s super cheap, and as many others have pointed out, it's in the. Relight district, with pros often dining at local restaurants.
If you are simply staying going to sleep in your hotel, this is one for you, if you are after bells and whistles, keep looking.

Room Tip: The deluxe will cost a few more dollars, but is worth the extra breathing room, and bathroom size.

A good choice when looking for budget hotels, where you will be back only to sleep after a day full of sightseeing.

We had heard and read that geylang 6 is a Red light area, but didnt actually see anything of the sort. But while the reviews said the hotel is close to public transport, it took us atleast 20 minutes walk in the sweltering heat to reach the nearest bus station and MRT station each morning.

Our room was on top floor and furthest from the elevator , as per our request. So no noise or disturbance issues. It was very small , as we had expected from the reviews but clean and well maintained. We could view the Singapore Flyer from the windows. The A/C , bathroom etc were fine.

There is no food facility in the hotel, though a coin machine just outside caters to most drinking needs. The staff was courteous but not well informed about modes of transport and the way to attractions.

Overall, we had a satisfactory stay.
