As a VRC member and regular race attender in Melbourne I took the opportunity to attend a race meeting while in Singapore. The course is easily accessed via the MRT and I was invited into the Gold Room which is similar to the grandstand at Caulfield in that you are behind glass all day. The race callers were all English speaking and the course remonds me a lot of Sha Tin for those of you who have been there. I thought the facilities were okay, but not amazing and there is no alcohol availabke for purchase in thus area at all. There is a lot of builiding work going in at the front of the grandstand which is apparently a new roof to protect punters from the rain while viewing their horses. I took a walk to the "outer" area and the race calling suddenly went to Chinese and the atmosphere was ver different. I saw only a few women there and it is definitely not a family outing venue as no one under 18 is permitted on the course.
