“It does the job”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2011

My bf and I booked this a few days before arriving. This was really the only option for us as we were on a budget and hotels in Singapore are outrageously expensive (if you want a good one, that is).

I found this hotel to be ok for what we needed. The staff were helpful. Rooms were clean and had the facilities we required- bathroom and air conditioning. It does not have a pool, which is unfortunate since Singapore is so humid. The location was the biggest drawcard for us as it is close to two MRT stations and a walkable distance to many sightseeing spots. There is a food court across the road that is open 24 hrs. This was handy as the hotel doesn't have any facilities to provide breakfast. A 7 eleven was close by as well (always handy for those late night snacks).

I was told by a Singaporean friend that this hotel chain is renowned for being used by less than desirable people "by the hour". But he did say that this one seemed reasonable (probably the location it is in).

I wouldn't stay here again unless I was absolutely desperate.

Room Tip: Get a room on the higher levels, as there is less noise.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 days. I needed because a friend of mine was in front of, in the Bayview Hotel. The bathroom is terrible. The reception isn't friendly. No facility to take a taxi.

Was attracted by low rates from the internet booking and accessibility of location to MRT and some tourist attractions. Hotel provided free wifi, staff were friendly and helpful. But the rooms were small, old, and whilst it provided basic needs, I found the standards of cleanliness wanting. I really wouldn't recommend it and now afraid to try other branches of the same name.

Room Tip: Just make sure you have it cleaned again before you sleep!

We booked this hotel for 4 days in June 2011 because it was central.
We arrived late as flights were grounded in Australia due to volcanic ash cloud.
Instead of being given a proper twin room as we expected, we had something the size of a cupboard with a strange double bed made of two smaller ones put together. There was not enough space to separate them and they seemed glued in place looking like any double bed.
Instead of having a non smoking room as we booked, we had one where people smoked for years and the last person must have smoked in there just a couple of hours before our arrival.
We felt instantly sick and nauseated by the stench.

This is not a hotel for tourists actually. It’s more like a hostel for foreign workers.
It is basic beyond basic, the corridors smell bad of sewage, tobacco, mold and food as people cook meals in their rooms probably – I saw some neighbors coming home with supermarket bags full of vegetables, oil, bread and raw meat. The smell of cooking was everywhere, obviously people lived there for long periods of time.

The presentation on the Internet made this hotel look reasonably good, “cheap and clean” – actually the only clean things in it were the sheets on the beds – meaning they were washed - but that was about it. Otherwise, those sheets had patches everywhere and in places they also had holes the size of a penny, not to mention aged stains of rust, ink or bitumen that did not wash off.
The elevator was a nightmare – it shut itself on you sharply while your foot was still in the door – literally!
Before one had a chance to press any button, no matter how quickly you tried, it took the passenger god knows to what level. The hardest thing was to open its doors – it was purposely set extremely tight, not to open completely for some reason. You had to squeeze out. Therefore we found ourselves with two suitcases left in the corridor while we were taken swiftly 5 levels down with the rest of the luggage, without having a chance to leave the elevator and follow the suitcases. We worried about finding them again a good 10-12 minutes while the elevator collected 5-6 people and took them down 12 floors. When we arrived up again and managed with force to push the door open long enough to get out with the rest of our gear, we found two men examining our suit-cases with interest. At our sight, they made themselves scarce on the fire evacuation stairs.
The door of the room did not lock securely.
The air conditioning did not work properly but made a lot of noise and blew in a terrible mold stench.
The key-card they gave us was only one, not two. It was bent and cracked and once we went out, the air conditioning was off and the tobacco and mold stench still there – more powerful than ever.
The windows were primitively and carelessly screwed together with bent rusty bolts, not to be opened ever! (?)
The walls had stains and scratches everywhere.
The corners had built-up dirt gluing the walls to the floor.
The bathroom had built-on scum and grime in between the tiles and in every crevasse.
We put our suitcases in the wardrobe – with the way the door opened with just a push even without a card. We had no heart to leave them in full sight.
We went out, searched for a while, found ourselves a proper hotel and moved less than 4 hours after arriving there…

Do not go there if you can. Your deserve better, I'm sure. Anybody does.
This was the worst hotel we ever booked on line, and the first and last time for us to book a "2 star" (LOL!) hotel, especially in a warm, humid country.

Well not much to add. It's grose.
When you enter the toilet and you look up you can see fungus coming out of the A/C grid. It still gives me shives, remembering that stay. They must've never cleaned the A/C.

The room itself is okay - it's not too small and desent. But the rest is a horror.

If you already booked your room (which is super expensive anyway) - buy a screwdriver because they tightened window handles so you cannot turn it to the position to open it. With a window open I survived the stay, otherwise I would rather sleep on the park bench.

We booked this hotel as it was within our budget plus it was located near to the Singapore National Museum which was where we were going for an event. So location wise it was perfect. Actually, we had no idea it was just a short walk away. Also, there were the MRT stations plus food was easily available.

The room we took was a basic twin so we don't expect much. The separate beds were pushed together but the sheets & blankets were clean enough as were the towels. The staff were nice and helpful, giving us directions when asked. Admittedly, the place looks rather run-down but we don't mind.

For those with budgetry contraint, this hotel should be good enough for a stay.
