I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights as a solo female traveller. It was about a 10-15mins walk from the Aljunied station, and was in the street where "red-light" establishments were located. It didn't bother me though, as the environment seemed safe enough. There were a couple of nights that I went back to the hotel past 10pm and everything, even along the street, seemed "normal". In the mornings though, going to the train station, I would always pass by "girls in revealing clothes standing and waiting" alongside the shophouses. They don't bother me - I just ignore them and move on.
If you are not up to walking 10-15 mins every time to and from the train station, then the hotel is also close to two bus stations, which makes it a good location. A few meters to the right is the bus station along Geylang Road (Lorong 18). You can take a bus here to go to Mustafa. Towards the left of the hotel, past the corner of the block, is the bus station along Guillermard Ave (Lorong 16). You can take buses here to go to Bugis or Orchard.
For the price I paid, and comparing it to similar-priced hotels in Singapore, I felt that the room I had (standard) was value for money. It was spacious enough, with a queen-sized bed, a small TV (with a remote that doesn't work), basic amenities, and free wifi access. The internet connection sometimes gets cut though, and you have to re-logon or just wait until you get access again. The only major issue I have is the noise along the hallways. There were a couple of nights that I wasn't able to sleep properly. The first night, I could hear some Chinese-speaking people shouting at each other while walking up and down the hallway. I tried to tolerate it, thinking that it would only last a few minutes. But no, it went on for quite some time, that I had to call the hotel's reception to complain. I was told that they would go up and check, and thankfully, after a few more minutes, it was quiet already.
The second night (Friday), the noise came from kids running up and down the hallway, knocking on doors, ringing the doorbell, and just playing around. Apparently, a group of students/kids have just checked in, and were occupying several rooms in the floor I was in. Again, it was a test of my patience as I tried to reason out that they were just kids. My patience failed me again though, as I called the reception once more to complain. It was only after a considerable time that I finally got to sleep again.
Overall, on a tight budget, I would probably stay in this hotel again. However, if I have a bit more to spare, I think I would choose another one, preferably with sound-proof rooms.
