“Classy Dorm Living”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

The Pod busted my cherry in terms of non-hotel lodgings.

I have to say, it was not only painless, but I would definitely consider staying here again should I find myself traveling solo to Singapore in future.

Arrived around midnight, and the housekeeper (receptionist is an inaccurate term as she manned the front desk, took me up to my bunk and briefed me on the facilities as well as cleaned the dishes in the communal kitchen island) was very efficient and welcoming.

Dorms and loo look as advertised -- with the addition of a little extra shabbiness (hard to avoid with communal living) setting in. The individual pods are great and have privacy screens, an individual light and 3-point electrical outlet and a stowaway shelf in each unit. Lockers below the bunks are accessible by your key card, same as the dorm rooms. The mattresses were comfy enough and you get two pillows and a comforter.

Self-contained shower/toilets number 3, but was in too late and out too early to have any complaints about waiting to use the facilities. Soap and shampoo are provided in dispensers and you get a towel with your pod so don't worry if you didn't pack any of the necessary.

Breakfast was basic but satisfying --pastries, bread, local food in warming trays, a dessert, cereal. Coffee is nespresso (a plus point). You can basically just help yourself to what's in the fridge. Most people leave their cups lying around, and the housekeeper is really on the ball with keeping things tidy so no worries.

There's a 7-11 nearby and a bus stop right in front of the entrance. Hopped the 107 to Lavender MRT station to catch a train to Changi. Information to do so also provided by helpful housekeeper.

Overall, a good place to rest your head and get cleaned up. Nice decor, great facilities, great service, and lots of nice little extras you won't get even if you stayed in budget hotels rated a notch above this one.

Not for you if you can't sleep through the slightest noise.

First off, capsule accomodations is not for everyone, but hey, there is always a first time to try the capsule experience, and as a first timer, I was not disappointed. The staff of The Pod were extremely helpful and accomodating, and most of the time, one's initial hotel ancounter sets the pace of one's holiday experience. To manage your expectations, here's a laundry list of the upside and downside (if there is any) of staying at The Pod.
Upside:
Excellent customer service (special thanks to Sue, Aty and Wynn)
Unique accomodations
Overall cleanliness (rooms, common/shared bathrooms, lobby, stairs, kitchen area)
The best FREE amenities (breakfast, Nespresso coffee, wi-fi, self service laundry, use of business pods (with laptop and phone), use of adaptor (if available), private showers with hot&cold water, left luggage area and complimentary bottle of mineral water which I suggest you bring should you be walking outside the whole day
Walking distance to MRT Staion (Nicoll Highway)
Bus stop (Beach Road) is in front of the hotel
Walking distance to Keypoint (with bus coach services going to Kuala Lumpur)
Key card for secured access to rooms and lockers
Choice of pods (front entry, side entry, queen pods, all female or mixed)
Privacy blinds
Towels changed daily
And my personal favorite- the most comfortable bed and pillows
Downside:
Hotel lobby is on the 3rd floor of the building, if you have heavy luggage, this can be a concern.
If you wake up late, there is a chance that breakfast will be consumed, but then again, they have a steady supply of bread and cereal should the breakfast run out.

Room Tip: Recommendations: If female (solo or group)- book the female only pods If solo male traveler - fron...

My sister and I went to Singapore for a conference and decided to stay here. It's a very nice and cosy place to stay for a few days. It's also very quiet. The staff were all friendly and accommodating.

It was the first time I stayed in a capsule hotel, and for what its worth, I enjoyed my time.

The Pod is very much an excellent value for money. I wouldn't mind staying here again.

I have stayed 9 days in The Pod. What was showed what you get. Clean and nice modern stylish capsule style hostel. Especially the staff was great. Thanks for the manager Risman and the friendly staff Sue, Nazurah and Waynn. Compared to several other Singapore expensive hotels and cheap low quality hostels or budget hotels, The Pod is the best value for money. You get all the basic facilities for no extra cost. I have no doubt to stay here in my next Singapore visit too.

Cheers
