“Lovely fresh food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

The place from the outside is ok, a bit like a cafe, and the service wasn't great, we sat down ourselves and nobody came to see us and then had to wave for menus.
But the food was really good! It was fresh and crisp, I really enjoyed the mint leaves in the rolls. My tea was nice and although portion sizes are small I enjoyed my meal a lot. Will return.

“Outstanding bánh cuốn, but uneven and lacks variety”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013 via mobile

This says it all: our Việt gourmet friends love this place, but they only come once every 6-8 weeks. Some dishes are authentic and quite yummy (especially the bánh cuốn, but also the bò lá lốt, the salads, the bánh xèo), but at this type of snack bar/café, there should be lots of dishes (as is the case at the Wrap & Rolls in VN), and the menu here is way too short!! The more 'substantial' dishes (stir-fried phở noodles, fish noodle soup, bún bò Huế sometimes offered as a special) are all pretty mediocre. Service is 'student style'. Pricey for what it is, but worth visiting once in a while for their best concoctions!

“Once was enough but it could have been so much better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

I have been to this place twice, on 2 different occasions, and other than the freshness of the food, nothing else really stands out. The service is something that needs to be improved (especially during peak hours). Before entering, you would either be greeted at the entrance (if there is no crowd), or get noticed (when there is somewhat of a crowd) to get ushered to your seat. When seated, depending on where you are seated and the busyness of the place it might take some time before you get noticed to get your order taken. That does not include the waiting time, which is generally slow. There is not much variety for the main dishes, but I like said, the food was palatable and fresh.

The first time I was there, it cost more than $90 for a couple of side dishes/appetizers for a group of four. Ok given the location, it may have been acceptable for the pricing it charges, but the décor, lack of service and variety really took out whatever (perceived) value it was supposed to have (to me at least).

On the second visit, my order was conveniently (or would that be coincidentally) not taken down (it was getting crowded after all); resulting in an unhappy moment. I guess that’s what happens when your order does not get repeated to you after the order has been taken down.

Overall:
> food was fresh and palatable, but lacked variety and was average (nice but nothing outstanding)
> the waiters/waitresses (majority) do a good job ignoring you (especially during peak hours)
> prices charged would have been reasonable if the service and décor were on par
> décor and service seems to be confused (e.g. whether to be a restaurant, café or fast food place) – it is pretty new franchise trying to find its feet, but its lost me already

“Average Vietnamese”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

Headed to see Norah Jones at the Star Vista so we though we would try this new chain style franchise from Vietnam. The prawn and rice paper wraps were quite nice, as were the Grilled Pork Skewers, only the rice paper wraps were a little dry. The stir fried Pho noodles with beef were okay but nothing outstanding (how does added tomatoes get into traditional Vietnamese noodles?) the new era of fusion cooking I guess! The Fish Noodle soup was also very average compared with good Vietnamese Pho and again those pesky tomatoes added, not a smuch spice as anticipated. A good franchise idea if they maintain wonderful Vietnamese recipes and stop Westernising too much, please stick to being authentic, you are not far off it. Not as authentic as they claim on this visit, maybe worth a return visit when they get the new resto sorted.
