“One of the best eateries in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

A few days after I had dinner at Lolla, I saw on the news that it was named one of the best eateries in the world. This rating is totally deserved. The food was amazing, the menu quite original, and the staff knowledgeable and cool. The atmosphere is also quite unique for Singapore. I loved it and will return.

“A hidden Gem called Lolla”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Hosted dinner for 8 at this very interesting Mediterranean restaurant tucked away in a popular area for fine dining. This was our usual dining group with a slightly jaded palate and high expectations. All were impressed and a unanimous after dessert decision was made that we would all come back individually. The duck rillette, sea urchin and crema catalana were outstanding. Served on small plates everyone had a bit of everything. We were advised not to bring our own wine and truly were not disappointed. The wine was just right and the ambience was conducive for a lively discussion. There is a bar upstairs and in the basement that is conducive for couples dining and there is a long table in the basement for larger groups. we are already planning a second visit despite the two week wait list.

“Innovative menu!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

This restaurant has just started doing a lunch trade and will probably do very well by it. The food is good with an Asian take on many of the standard Spanish dishes available internationally. Quality is excellent. The tapas arrangement is propitious as many Singaporeans like to share their food (Chinese style) and this meant we could order a large selection of dishes for everybody to try. The steak was an uninteresting addition to the menu and we wondered why it was included in the first place as it was just a plain grilled rib eye unlike the other dishes, especially the seafood, which were more innovative. We chose to sit on bar stools around the cooking area as this was more fun and the chef, who was great to watch, is a chatty, amenable Singaporean who is obviously passionate about his food and the cooking of it! The basement is one large communal table and a bit soulless. Make a reservation early and ask to sit upstairs. Try the daily dishes chalked on the board. We visited after watching a programme on tv which said it was amongst the top restaurants in the world. I think it is a bit of an exaggeration. Lolla is good but it is not ready to be included in the top restaurants in the world, not just yet!

“In the global top 10? I'm surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Went to Lolla's after reading that it was in the top 10 globally according to Zagat. It's an interesting concept with a buzzing bar area upstairs and a single large table downstairs. Food is 'small plates' not unlike tapas though our waiter was keen not to describe it as that. The food is nice, the ambience is nice for a change and ok if talking to strangers while you eat your dinner is your thing. I'm not sure why its in a top 10 list - there are far better places in Singapore. Still, my wife and I had a good time, enjoyed our food, met a couple of interesting people and would recommend you go try it out.
