“Great hotel, fantastic location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

My family and I arrived at the hotel around 12 noon and we felt a bit unwelcomed since no one greeted us. We greeted Hi but still no reply or smile back. However, throughout the course of check-in process, reception started to loosen up and started to smile. Payment modes are very flexible. We paid cash on Day1 and paid by credit card on Day2. Early check-in approved.

Now the room...

We had the family room consisting of 1 king sized bed and 2 single beds. We thought we only had 2 single beds since the connecting room was locked. They immediately open it upon our request though it should already be opened from the very beginning.

Beds were in great conditions. A bit small for 5 adults but it was still OK considering the very reasonable price. Aircon took some time to cool-up since it was centralized but still fine for us. Bathroom was kinda translucent so it was kinda `silhouetty` if someone is taking shower.

Room service was reliable too and they cleaned up the room when we were out the following day (as expected).

Checkout process was smooth and they even let us leave our baggages till 3pm while we are coursing through Chinatown.

Overall, our experience was great. I will recommend this to others and will surely go back in the future.

I was lucky enough to get a complimentary upgrade to the Suite, their largest room, which was very nice - but also at the top of a narrow corkscrew staircase which was not easy to use, particularly with a large 25kg suitcase!

The room was spacious, modern, spotless and well-appointed and I was very impressed with the bathroom. However light switches were confusing (poor locations, unlabelled and some were up for on, others down for on), the hot water system wasn't big enough to fill the bathtub, and the hot water, aircon and fridge were all turned off at the wall on my arrival leading to a poor first impression when I wanted to freshen up after a long flight!

Overall a very nice basic hotel with a few quirks, nicely appointed but without any 'extras'.

Room Tip: The Suite is great for a solo or couple, with plenty of space and a great bathroom - but beware the...

The hotel is very new and all fixtures and fittings are still in good condition. It's a great place to stay if you really just want somewhere to shower and sleep. We had a family room which consisted of 2 rooms - one with a double bed, and one with 2 single beds and the shower/wet room. The shower/wet room is right up beside one of the single beds so here's hoping no one is your party gets sick!

The door to the main bedroom was unable to be closed and this looks like it has been an issue since it was installed - lucky we really didn't need any privacy.

The English skills of the front desk staff weren't amazing and we often got mixed information from the staff there. We asked about mailing some postcards and were told by a PM staff member that they could do so for HKD$2 per postcard. The AM staff the following day had no idea but took the postcards and later told us the HKD$2 was correct. For your information there is a post office in a nearby shopping centre where you can get stamps for 50c!

The location is fantastic, close to shopping malls, the MRT and Chinatown - there is no lack of places you can go to eat in the area.

Taxi drivers won't stop outside the hotel because it is on a main intersection so you will generally need to walk to a taxi stand to get one. I also had issues with taxis not wanting to take me to the airport at 10pm on a Thursday night. Taxis also don't seem to know the location regardless of it seeming to be 2 major streets intersecting. We found it best to say we were on Upper Cross St near Hotel 81 or before OG (department store on the other side of the intersection).

Because of the price and convenience we would stay there again.

Well located but like other users stated taxi driver couldn't find it. Welcoming reception and REALLY clean. However no light switched near beds and rooms pitch black with lights off do lots of groping across room in the dark.
Big issue was shower/toilet combo wet room. Basically if anyone uses shower the toilet and toilet floor are awash. Ok if just a couple but resulted in constant loo flooding with 2 kids.

i stayed with friends in a Quad family room for 1 night. The room was suitable for us and we like the modern and simple design. The location of the hotel is great, it's only a few meters from Chinatown MRT station Exit E.
We checked out in the morning but we still can keep our luggage at receptionist after check out and take it later. Even can take a shower before leaving to the airport in the afternoon!
Small hotel with a great service.

This was a nice hotel with modern rooms. It was conveniently located across the street from a shopping mall with full food court. Very convenient. But the room lacked a good layout. No electrical sockets near the sink. The room also had limited shelf space near the sink. The staff was average. I had to pull teeth to have the front desk call for a taxi. Overall it was a nice stay. But I would think twice before staying again.

Stay there frequently as business traveler. The room is big in Singapore standard, new furniture and equipment as it is a new hotel. Small convenient store just next to the hotel, a shopping mall opposite with many fast food outlet and restaurants. Mosque, temple, mrt station is all nearby.
