I was looking for brunch and for it not to be disappointing.
Club Street Social met the challenge. Though it wasn't typical brunch food per se (think french toast and eggs benedict), their menu includes some breakfast foods, salads, and paninis to satisfy your brunch craving. At about $50 for 2 people, the price was standard of brunch in Singapore, but we didn't have any drinks.
We ordered the prosciutto, pear, grana padano, and arugula salad which was amazing. It's the best salad I've had in Singapore. It was only lacking honeyed walnuts, but otherwise, it was fresh, tasty, and well balanced between sweet and salty.
Then, we had the strawberry nutella panini with a side of smokey bacon. By itself, the panini was overly sweet and probably we would go with the bacon egg and maple butter panini next time, but add the side of bacon and it was superb. If you prefer crispy, American bacon like I do, ask them to cook the bacon a bit longer. Ours was thin enough but could be more crispy. It was akin to Canadian bacon.
We ended off with the nutella bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and this was just to DIE for! Oh my. It was amazing warmth, texture, and hazelnutty sweetness in my mouth.
The atmosphere was very relaxed. I felt like I was having brunch on Newbury Street in Boston, ir very New York-ish. There's a bar area and tables opposite. Maybe it could accommodate 20-30 people. Service was very speedy and attentive. It's close enough to the Raffles Place or Chinatown MRT, across from the China Square mall.
Hands down, I loved this place and would have brunch here again.
