This is the best zoo I have ever seen. A wide mix of animals ranging from insects to elephants, all in "natural" habitats, with as few fences as possible, and plenty of space to roam. Some memorable moments were the magnificent white tigers demonstrating that some cats are very much at home in the water, an orang utan displaying his displeasure at the rain by wearing a sack just like an old man with his cardigan, other primates socialising over food and babies.
The place is well organised into areas so that you can see a selection of animals from a climatic or geographic region, with plenty of paths snaking between them. The courtesy bus gets you right to the animals if your walking ability is not what it could be, and the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable.
This is a great day out, with or without children. It isn't cheap, but it's good value, especially if you arrive early and depart late.
Plenty of eating opportunities, good bus services and plenty of taxis. No excuses - DO IT!
