Booked an executive room for a two night transit in Singapore. Easy to find from the airport by taxi ($27 including airport and peak-hour surcharge).
Staff were welcoming, check in was quick. Booked the executive room as shown on all the booking sites... expecting a room with windows, but was originally assigned a windowless room with windows only in the bathroom.
Went back to check-in and was told an executive room only means larger size. They could offer me the 'room in the picture' however it would be noisy.
Noisy it was! But the room was larger and brighter. It is a toss up whether I would stay in the darker vs noiser room if I returned to the hotel (the noise problem could easily have been solved by some double glazing, I don't know why the hotel has not invested in this). If I chose the darker room, then probably might as well get a normal rather than executive size.
Also worth noting that the hotel is classified as being 'little India' on most websites, but is in fact about a 10 minute walk away. The food court opposite the hotel is not Indian but Chinese (the food however was excellent there!)
The hotel itself... only negative (apart from the noise) was the slow lift (it really was slow). Everything else was as expected... tasteful restoration (as per the official pictures on the hotel's website), tea/coffee/water supplied, plenty of fresh towels, wi-fi worked perfectly, the bathroom was stocked with basic amenities and had good water pressure. There were a limited number of tv channels, but enough to find something to watch if you had an hour or so to relax.
With such great food across the road there was little temptation to eat at the hotel restaurant, however if you are keen to stay in they were offering breakfast and lunch promotions for hotel guests.
