“Bearable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

Acceptable price given the location. Just a 5 minute walk to Dhoby Ghaut MRT. Free wifi worked well. It is however an old property and one should not expect anything fancy. Rooms not sparkling clean but bearable. Some facelift is definitely needed. There was some graffiti on the closet done by previous guests. I thought the hotel could have done more to rectify this. Change of bathroom tiles could also be a good idea. In short, just an okay hotel with a few drawbacks which could be overlooked if location and convenience is your priority.

We recently stayed here with my whole family. We found it very hard to get accomodation that would take 3 children in one room ....my eldest daughter has 3 children. Hotels either take 2 or you need to get two rooms no guarantee of interconnecting. The family room we booked is quite large with a king size bed and a single. You can request another bed but it costs you. My daughter took an inflatable double mattress snd the two youngest slept on that. The lodge supplied the linen. Breakfasts are very reasonable for 10 dollars or continental for 6 dollars. There is a laundry on site with washing machine dryer and iron. The view over Fort Canning Park is lovely and a fiveminute walk to Orchard Road. There is tea, coffee making facilities in room and a safe. The deluxe rooms are a decent size with a queen bed. Would recommend for cheap but good accomodation.

Room Tip: The family rooms are good, situated at end of corridor so less noise from people returning to their...

When my mum booked our accommodation at this YWCA, I was curious. Would it be a good place to stay?
It was fantastic. With clean functional rooms, tea and coffee facilities and international sockets in each room, Fort Canning Lodge provided all we needed.
The staff were polite and friendly, and willing to help out whenever we needed it.
The restaurant downstairs made the most amazing and affordable breakfasts, we rarely went anywhere else to start our day.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk to Orchard Road, where we spent a fair bit of time exploring the shops. With the closest shop (just on the other side of Dhoby Ghaut station) filled with great take away, a fabulous food court on the top floor and a grocery shop on the bottom floor. Being so close to these shops couldn't have been better.

The Dhoby Ghaut station (only a short walk away) was a fantastic central station on the Metro with easy trips on the train to Chinatown, Little India, Bugis Street and Marina Bay.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Thank you so much to the team at Fort Canning Lodge for making our family stay and enjoyable and memorable one.

Travel with a big family (10 adults 2 kids), need a good size of room (for 3 adults + 2 kids), YWCA Fort Canning lodge is definitely a good choice. What I like there is the room is really bright.
Front desk staffs are really friendly, I didn't try the breakfast there so I didn't know their service.
Good location, only 5-10 minutes walk to MRT and Plaza Singapore. Next to Fort Canning park where I can enjoy a morning jogging in the park, quiet park in busy city environment.
Facility? hahahaha....no facility in there, only a tiny shop. However, why you need a facility in the hotel when 7 Eleven is located in Plaza Singapore? Doesn't want a breakfast in the hotel? Just walk to MRT, you can enjoy local food and drink in there (S$3 for Chicken rice & S$0.9 for hot milk tea).
Only allow 2 devices for wifi per room (even I booked a room for 3 people)? No problem, go to get a Singtel SIM card (remember to bring your passport), pay $15 for $18 value, then select a data plan (I selected $7 for 7 days for 1GB). Or you can get a pocket wifi in the airport (only S$10 per day, it can link to 8 device).
But two things I really concern are; the bed is too hard and air-con is either too cold or too hot.
Overall, the price is reasonable, love the room size, location is good, happy to stay.

Room Tip: Put more clothes while you're sleep as air con is a bit too cold. Room above 6 floors facing to...

The hotel is very overpriced only because of its location but Nothing special in it.
Also rooms were having old construction with dirty interior. No ventilation and smell everywhere. I had to use my own air-freshener everyday. Disaster!!

There is nothing like view from hotel. From backside we can see rear part of mall and from front side only pool.

It located exactly opposite to Fort Canning Garden and nearby to Dhoby-Ghaut Train station.

As an vegetarian, i had terrible experience as they were not serving any vegetarian food. At least during breakfast Vegetarian food must be available.

They have pool but it is occupied by children during holidays for swimming coaching. Also no other games or any activities are there.

Avoid this hotel if you want pleasant stay.

I'm sorry but nothing positive to say, I don't think I have ever left a negative review on Tripadvisor before.
I received a free upgrade of room but the hotel and staff in general had the atmosphere and energy of a funeral. The room itself was very dated although clean enough - I nearly gagged when I dropped something on the floor and saw what was under the bed. Shower full of black mould and holes cut out of the ceiling.
Drilling and sanding noises until 10pm at night, curtains wouldn't close, I had to clip them closed with hair clips, I asked staff if anyway to fix it, but they said sorry no. My view was looking at a brick wall carpark, so was very dark room. Very noisy room, heard everything from above, next door and the hallway even with ear plugs in.
Free WIFI was great when it worked. Pool area very unappealing so did not use.
Nothing interesting surrounding the hotel, nearest MRT about 7 minute walk safe to do at night time. Very overpriced for what you get, was worth about $80 per night only.

Room Tip: Not sure if their would be a good room - possibly the highest possible room with view over the park.
