“Best Of All Dining Experiences”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

An all time favourite of mine, from International cuisine at Mezza9, to local fare at Straits Kitchen; consistantly good food, and great service! From business dining, to wedding dinners(mine included), this venue is great, but comes with a price tag to boot $$$!

We were invited for lunch by a friend from one of the embassies, and the straits kitchen was recommended. We booked a table for 1230. We arrived at 1220 and were asked to wait. The restaurant was practically empty but very few staff were visible. At 1225 we asked if we could sit down but were told " you booked for 1230 so you have to wait".
We finally were shown to our table and a waitress appeared. Her English was not very good. When we asked what juices were available she said there were 5 juices included in the buffet. " what are the juices? I don't know, need to ask".
She came back but could only remember 3 of the juices.
We then asked for the wine list. 5 minutes later it appeared. At this time the restaurant was still pretty empty.
The food was good, but for a hotel of the standard of Hyatt the service was very poor. It felt as if the staff had no training and was selected for their low cost rather than their skills.
We will not be back.

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt for 5 nights in late Feb/early March 2013. I had booked a Grand Room which is the standard room at the Hyatt. The hotel was fully booked for most of the days. The room was very spacious, comfortable and met all my requirements. The most pleasing aspect of my stay was the professionalism, the friendliness and the service from every member of the staff I came into contact with. The check-in and check out were efficient and smooth. The concierge staff were always helpful and took interest in my stay at the hotel and in their city. I patronized Scotts 10 on most evenings and again the service was excellent and personalized. Even the head chef made a point to come and talk to me and ask about my stay and my experience.
I had dinner in Straights Kitchen once and it was excellent and good value. And so was the breakfast. I certainly expected the facilities and service at the Grand Hyatt to be good; but in fact it exceeded my expectations; and so I have no doubt i will stay there again on my next visit.

This was our first time at this hotel but have stayed in many others in the same area. It was an excellent choice. Rooms were like they were just built. They were were very spacious and clean. Breakfast in StraitsKitchen was amazing for breakfast. Breakfast cost is $41SGD if not included in price. Place was also packed for lunch and dinner always. Hotel is only block away from MRT and near many shopping centres. This has been the best hotel we have ever stayed in Singapore and we have stayed in many.

Room Tip: We had pool facing room.

We were in Singapore for one night as a stopover on our way home. we stayed at this hotel due to a previous positive experience my spouse had on a business trip. The hotel concierge was great - responsive to our e-mails so we could pre-plan and make the best of the one night we were in Singapore. Even made reservations for us at a great restaurant. We booked two interconnecting rooms. Upon arrival at 5:30 in the evening, however; we were told one of the rooms was not ready due to a late checkout by the previous occupant. This was extremely annoying and very much an inconvenience since were only there one night. (Why they allowed a late checkout of 5pm in a room that was booked I do not know - stupid on their part). We had to call the service desk at least twice to stay on top of them to get the connecting room clean so we could move into it. We are gold passport members and this is a Grand Hyatt - we expected our room clean and ready for occupancy upon arrival - especially when we arrived at 5:30pm. Especially since the rooms are not cheap - and of course, we are expected to pay in full!!!

I just came back from a weekend trip to Singapore. Brought my family there and my travel agent booked us a two bedroom room. The room had a separate living room area so it was great as the kids could play in that area. My husband and I stayed in the master bedroom which came with a bathroom and nice amenities. Then the kids stayed in another room that had 2 beds in it. My husband loved this room as he said it was better than having connecting rooms and that at least this room we are all still like kinda in the same room. The staff were so friendly and we were very happy that they were also professional and fast in responding to our requests eg we wanted extra pillows and towels and all came within 10 minutes. Shopping was also most convenient as this hotel was located right in the middle of Orchard road. It was pleasing to have been able to shop and come back easily to the hotel and drop the bags and go out again. It was also very easy to walk 3 minutes to the mrt station and there were 24 hour taxis outside the hotel entrance. We also wanted to go to like the tourist attractions around, do ask their concierge as they can help with the transport and even help get tickets. I was very happy they helped me to buy 4 Universal Studio tickets. My room also came with breakfast so we had breakfast at their restaurant Straits Kitchen. It was very popular as both mornings we went there were many people. The food is very like local food hawker style which is great as we then can taste everything local in one restaurant. I would recommend this hotel and the two bedroom room for my friends especially those with families and come again for the December holidays.

This was our forth stay in Singapore but our first stay at the Grand Hyatt. We were traveling with our kids, ages 5 and almost 2.

We were able to secure an upgrade to a suite as a result of membership with the hotel loyalty program. This afforded us access to the hotel lounge. When traveling with our kids we’ve taken to seeking out hotels with lounge access as it makes feeding and watering the kids much easier by alleviating the need to sit down, order, and wait for food to be delivered in restaurants for every meal while keeping the kids entertained. Having drinks and snacks at the ready make travel that much easier.

While there are renovations in progress at the hotel we didn’t notice or hear anything in the tower we were in.

The hotel is a few years old and in need of a bit of refresh and, it would seem, that’s what they are doing one area at a time.

Our stay was made exceptionally enjoyable as a result of the all of the staff we encountered. They were friendly and accommodating without exception.

The most notable feature, from a family perspective, was the child friendly lounge. They have a separate room that is setup for families with kids. There is a TV playing family friendly shows and a small play area with blocks, an easel exc. This was absolutely perfect for families. Our kids were able to play with other children and lounge guests that didn’t want to hear children playing with blocks could choose the main lounge area. This is something that other hotels should duplicate.

The hotel lounge was also notable for the bountiful array of food. Breakfast was plentiful and included cooked to order items and, in the evening, there was an array of substantial hot items to choose from along with a selection of cheeses, deserts, vegetables and the like. We do quite a bit of traveling with out kids and have been in dozens of hotel lounges around the world and this is one of the best.

If you’re traveling to Singapore with kids you can’t go wrong at the Singapore Hyatt.

Room Tip: If you're traveling with kids get a room that affords lounge access. The family friendly room in...
